There is a lot of discussion about the role of computers and AI in school. The advice we have received from our Advisor, Professor Sugata Mitra ,
is two-fold:
1) Get real. It is out there in every day life, so children should know all about it.
2) Work in groups, not in isolation, exploring, discovering and discussing to maximise learning. His work in Self-Organised Learning Environments (SOLE) is legendary. Just take note of the focus and quiet learning that this video embodies. Moreover, this is taking place on a non-school day at school.

The Alumni are helping to make a video about our school as part of an international project pairing up with Clapham Manor School in London. So our school became a filming studio yesterday. Kamala was giving quick lessons to some of the children in voice and hand movements, which they quickly put into action. There were some technical issues (we do not have a good enough mike) but these were overcome. Filming will continue for several days and we have been given some editing software to help create our first film!

Tiffin time at the senior Yellow School. Those needing their extra nutritious boost are joined by some of our alumni who are working at the school in their holidays. It is wonderful to see you returning and helping behind the scenes, filming vlogs, listening to children reading, creating software solutions to help administration and more.

Tiffin time! Some children need an extra nutritious boost and this year we will be giving them eggs, fruit and milk snacks. We are also asking other children and their parents not to bring junk food into the school grounds - not crisps, spicy noodles, biscuits and the like. Instead, we are encouraging everyday home foods that will feed the brain and concentration to help children learn better and enjoy their days at school more.

The Early Years Montessori School now has a few sets of phonics reading books with a building vocabulary and bright pictures. Our Alumni have stated to visit LKG and UKG to sit with the younger children and listen to them read. Well done everyone - great progress!

Hooray! Our new equipment and supplies of chemicals etc have arrived from the Terai. We pride ourselves in children and young people having hands on experience of experiments in small groups. Thank you donors for making this possible!

Some more enchanting photos from classes 4 and 5’s visit to the practical science room yesterday.

Yesterday, students from classes four and five visited the practical science room to be shown the scientific instruments and their uses - all of which are included in their course book. They conducted some simple experiments, using the instruments, including accurately determining the volume of liquid using a measuring cylinder, measuring length and using a scale and balance to determine the weight of an object. The children said it was fun! Well done our new teacher, Bharosha, and all the children!
