Fun in the Field!

This week at saw us continue our Blue Fieldcraft lessons, with the Cadets putting their skills to the test by demonstrating how to put up a 2-man shelter along with having a go at cooking some rations out in the field even if there was some mixed opinions about the taste 😅

Always great to get outside during the lighter nights, well done all!

Out of this World 🚀

Last week our Cadets were introduced to a new subject within the RAFAC syllabus - Blue Space, learning all about the Features of the Solar System. Did you know there are almost 300 moons in our solar system? 🤯

Great to see gaining even more knowledge, thank you to FS Johnston from 102 (Aberdeen Airport) Squadron Air Training Corps for delivering the session via Teams. We look forward to seeing what Blue Space brings next!

Learning to Lead 💪

Last night was all about Leadership at as we took advantage of the lighter nights to carry out some Blue Leadership. After being introduced to SMEAC, the Cadets put their new knowledge to the test in a variety of tasks, assessing their understanding of basic leadership principles and how to work effectively within a team.

This saw 2 Cadets pass their 1st assessments and Cdt Cheyney passing both assessments required to achieve his Blue Leadership badge, well done! 👏👏 Always great to see more progress through the training syllabus!

Skilling Up 💪

Over the past couple of weekends, ’s Sgt Urquhart attended the Skill at Arms Instructor Course at Leuchars Station in Fife, learning how to effectively deliver all SAA lessons and understanding more about the Cadet Weapon Systems Pamphlet. He then had to undertake a formative and summative assessment on the delivery of L98 lessons under the watchful eye of the No. 4 (S&NI) Small Arms Training Team.

We’re happy to say that he passed and is officially an SAAI!! Congratulations Sgt, we look forward to seeing you utilise your new skills soon! 👏👏

Inspiring Future Leaders ✈️

Monday saw something a little different for as we welcomed the RAF Careers team for the evening. The Cadets received a presentation of what they could get out of joining the Royal Air Force and the wide variety of roles in offer, along with playing some games to test their speed and reaction times which are very important when it comes to certain roles such as Pilot!

Big thank you to Sgt Murray and the rest of the Careers team for coming up to visit us, I'm sure we now have a lot of future Aviators in our midst! 🤩

Levelling Up 🧑‍💻

Last night, were introduced to the Cyber syllabus by getting started with the Bronze iDEA Award. The online programme allows Cadets to complete lessons in skills such as Digital Literacy, Cyber Security, Creativity and Entrepreneurship.

The group will now work through the modules over the coming weeks before completing the RAFAC Bronze Cyber course and earn their Bronze Cyber badge!

Thank you to Sgt Barclay from 102 Squadron for helping our Cadets take the next step in their training!

New Year, New NCOs 💪

2026 has arrived, but we want to throwback to last year one more time! On our final night before Christmas, Findlay Sandison and Ollie Tindall were presented with Corporal tapes to become our newest NCOs.

Led by Sgt Tait, they now make up our NCO team to help cadet development and support parade nights.

Well done to you both! 👏👏

Nailing the Basics 💪

Monday night was another busy parade night for with our Junior Cadets continuing their way through Blue Radio.

This also includes an introduction to Cyber video covering how to stay safe online. On completion of Blue, Cadets can then branch off to work on further levels of Radio and Cyber as individual awards.

Well done all, we look forward to seeing some Blue badges very soon! 👏
