🛑VCF bursary fund is now open for applications! 🎉🛑

The fund is available to support young people aged 16–25 who are either:
• Studying full-time at UHI Shetland, or
• Undertaking a local apprenticeship

Applications are quick and easy to complete online, making it simple for eligible young people to apply.

Pupils from Mid Yell Junior High School recently had the opportunity to visit Mossbank Primary school as part of a series of workplace visits. This experience allowed pupils to gain a first-hand insight into Early Learning and Childcare, exploring what a career in this sector can look like in a real setting.💡

Experiences like these help young people explore different career pathways, develop their understanding of the workplace, and build confidence in making informed choices about their future.

SULLOM VOE TERMINAL PARTICIPANTS’
10th ANNIVERSARY EDUCATIONAL TRUST

Are you studying full-time at any level of higher and/or further education?
Will the knowledge you gain help you to contribute to the social, economic and/or cultural development of Shetland?

If so, you are encouraged to apply for the following educational scholarships: -
📝10th Anniversary Educational Scholarships. Up to 4 scholarships are available each year to selected candidates studying any discipline.
📝George Dunnet Memorial Scholarship. In memory of the late Professor George Dunnet, Chairman of the Shetland Oil Terminal
📝Advisory Group, a scholarship is offered to a student studying in a discipline relevant to the environment.
📝Sullom Voe Partnership Award. A scholarship is available to a student studying in a technical or commercial discipline which is relevant to the business at Sullom Voe Terminal. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to experience a work placement at Sullom Voe Terminal during the summer vacation.

💵The value of each scholarship will be up to £5,000 over a maximum 2-year period.

Applicants must have been resident in Shetland for 2 years.
Previous unsuccessful applicants may apply again.

📣 Reminder: Applications for the Viking Community Fund Apprenticeship Support Fund close on 31st May 2026 📣

Are you a small Shetland business or social enterprise thinking about taking on an apprentice aged 16–25 this year?

💡 Funding support of up to £15,000 is available across the first 3 years of the apprenticeship for eligible businesses with 15 employees or fewer.

Please note: for the 2026 round, applications are only open for apprentices entering their 1st year this year.
