DYW Shetland was delighted to host a Languages Event, giving pupils the opportunity to explore how language skills can open up a wide range of exciting career pathways both locally and internationally.

Through engaging discussions and real-life examples, pupils learned how languages can enhance employability, support travel, cultural understanding, and create opportunities across a variety of industries. It also helps builds connection through engaging with people in their preferred way of communication.

We recently took Sandwick Junior High School pupils to NorthLink Ferries, who were interested to learn about careers available with Northlink on land and sea.

It was great to learn about the variety of roles involved to ensure our lifeline service can function for both Shetlanders and tourists. Supporting the pupils to build their knowledge of the opportunities available in Shetland and beyond.

Massive thank you to all the staff at Northlink who helped make the visit so enjoyable and interesting.
