Shetland Community Standards
In Shetland we pride ourselves on resolving issues politely and respectfully. Recently a non‑member contacted us about a crafter’s item; we asked them to contact the seller directly and we also did the same, the matter was resolved quickly and courteously when the seller withdrew the item and apologised.
Our support for local businesses
We fully support all local tourism, hospitality, and craft businesses. The Shetland Tourism Association is a membership organisation that works hard—through staff and volunteers—to promote and grow sales, skills, and opportunities for Shetland makers and businesses.
Zero tolerance for aggression
We will not tolerate aggression, threats, harassment, or deliberate attempts to tarnish the reputation of our members, staff, or volunteers. Attempts to intimidate, mock, or publicly shame individuals or organisations are unacceptable and will be addressed.
How to raise concerns
If you have an issue with a product or service, please contact the seller directly or message the STA office and we will help mediate in a calm, constructive way. We expect all communications to be polite and factual.
Our commitment
We welcome everyone with a smile and kindness, and we will continue to protect the good name and hard work of Shetland businesses. Any further aggressive behaviour directed at our members or our page will be removed and will be reported.
Thank you for helping keep our community respectful and supportive.
