🔥 JUNIOR UP HELLY AA - JUNIOR SQUADS
Please ensure you read all the information below ⬇️
Applications from young people in P7, S1 and S2 who attend school across Shetland wishing to form squads and take part in Junior Up Helly 2027 are now being invited. Parents / carers are encouraged to help get them organised into squads and completed Squad Details Forms submitted before the deadline – 5pm on 6 November 2026.
Please note for the 2027 festival, a ÂŁ10 guizing fee per person will continue. Upon squad confirmation we will provide details of how and when these can be paid by bank transfer. This is required due to increased costs of operating the junior festival. If any squad member are in receipt of Free School Meals and/or Clothing Grant and require financial assistance for your child / children to participate, please mark the column on the form and we will work with the individual guizers to ensure the fee will be waived.
Application Forms & Guidance Notes can be requested from Wednesday 28 October at 8am by:
📱 visiting https://linktr.ee/junioruphellyaa
📧 emailing [email protected]
Applications can be returned by email or post from Friday 30 October at 9am. Applications submitted earlier than this will be rejected.
If your squad has more than 10 members then please use a second Squad Details Form to complete all the members details.
We have limited spaces so encourage young people and their families to act early to avoid disappointment.
Please note that forms must be signed by parents / guardians of those under 16 years as part of our requirements. However, Junior Up Helly Aa are content to accept return of initial application with digital signatures from Friday 30 October at 9am, but will require wet / physical signatures once we provide squad confirmation.
Junior Up Helly Aa will offer an opportunity to have an equal gender split of guizers, on a first come first served basis. The festival has a capacity of 150 guizers, including the Junior Jarl and their squad, meaning we have space for 135 peerie guizers.
