How does it work?
1. At the beginning of the process, the YouChoose Steering Group ask young people what they would like to change in Shetland. From the results of this, the steering group create a list of Priorities - this will be a list of the most desired qualities that a project would have and which will be used later during project shortlisting.
2. Young people get together and come up with
projects they would like to get funding to do, and submit a bid to the steering group! A good project will aim benefit or involve as many young people as possible. Groups will record their bid submission on video in any format they wish.
3. Once groups have completed their bids, they will put them forward to the YouChoose Steering Group - which includes and young people -
who will shortlist the best projects in line with the Priorities. These will be ones which are most inclusive, both demographically and geographically.
4. All the videos will be put online to the Shetland section of the Young Scot website and to YouTube, and young people will be encouraged to go online to view them. Sharing the videos on social networking sites such as Facebook will also be encouraged
5. Voting will be Shetland-wide and will be possible either online or in person. This process will take place over two weeks and the final day of voting will see a large event hosted at Islesburgh Community Centre in Lerwick, where the final results will be announced.
6. Once the successful projects have been announced, they will be given their allocated funding and will start work. The YouChoose Steering Group will work closely with all successful groups to ensure that promises are delivered. It is your opportunity...
