The Lake District Foundation We are the charity for the Lake District National Park. We fund,collaborate and inspire positive action to support nature, heritage and people.

What a weekend at the Great North Swim! 🌊
Our second-hand clothes sale went brilliantly, raising funds for the Lake District Foundation and helping keep clothes out of landfill. A huge thank you to everyone who donated, browsed and bought something new-to-you.
Loads of you also predicted your swim times as part of the Beat Your Time challenge. For every swimmer who beats their predicted time, Coventry Building Society will donate £5 to LDF. We can’t wait to let you know how much we’ve raised together.
And on Sunday, our team took to the water too! You might have even spotted us on ITV Border News 👀
We loved it so much we’re already eyeing up some of the longer distances for next year…

We’re thrilled to be joining swimmers at the start line of the Great North Swim this Sunday as part of an exciting challenge with Coventry Building Society.
For every swimmer who beats their predicted time, Coventry Building Society will donate £5 to the Lake District Foundation, helping to fund vital projects that care for the landscapes, wildlife and communities of the Lake District.
So whether you’re swimming for a PB, a personal challenge or just the joy of being in Windermere, you’ll be helping make a difference too.

We were thrilled to fund a very special visit to the Lake District for
Thirty people came along for a full day of connection, exploration and shared experiences, ranging in age from 6 to 75. For many, it was their first ever visit to the Lake District.
The group enjoyed a brilliant day out, including a trip on the Haverthwaite Railway and a cruise across Windermere with Windermere Lake Cruises.
These are the kinds of experiences that matter. Time outdoors, shared memories and the chance to experience the Lake District as a place for everyone.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible.

We’re excited to launch the HEART Micro-Grant Fund- a £50,000 funding pot supporting community-led projects that connect climate, heritage, people and place across the Lake District and Cumbria.

From restoring local landscapes and celebrating cultural heritage to building climate resilience and bringing communities together, we want to support ideas that make a difference locally.

From restoring nature to sharing stories and testing new ways of working with the land – if you’ve got an idea, we want to hear it 🌿
