With the Living History season in full swing, the next event Nordan Jorfors will be attending will be at Moorforge Viking Settlement Cumbria! Training and Traders will run from 27th to the 28th June! More details in a separate post 🤩

Our last event as a group was at the wonderful Kendal Museum, where Nordan Jorfors set up their training and crafting base for the day. Throughout the day, visitors had the opportunity to have a go at tablet weaving, a traditional craft which dates back as far as the 8th century! 🤯

The end product was a band in the Kendal Museum colours which was then gifted to them as a thank you token for accommodating us all!

Many thanks to everyone who came down to the Viking History Day!
Our first collaboration : Nordan Jorfors & Kendal Museum in our home town of Kendal.

It was a wonderful first event at the museum, sharing our crafts & combat displays with the public, the kids had a riotous time with the Museum Rune trail, trying some crafts & enjoying some show and tell with our warriors.

We’ve all throughly enjoyed sharing our passion of history with the Museum visitors of all ages ✨🤓✨

Here are some photos of our initiates to Nordan Jorfors at our recent “Sigrblot” spring gathering event!

For the group of Nordan Jorfors there are requirements to earn the rites to be a fully initiated member. All prospective members will under go a probation period, this period is to prove that the new member follows the groups code of conduct & values, displays respect & loyalty to the group & the wider community.

The initiation process for Combat members of the group, is to show dedication to training & personal development, upholding the groups core values, proving determination, courage & resilience in combat fighting context. Displays qualities of inspiring strength, integrity & protection within the group members circle, extended family members & community.

The initiation process for Non Combatant members of the group, is to show dedication to the learning crafts & encampment lifestyle, personal development, upholding the groups core values, providing hospitality to members & guests, displaying qualities of nurture, integrity & protection within the groups members circle, extended family members & community.

The process time period for the initiate will be a minimum of 1year, to either obtain warrior rank or for non combatant to receive full initiated status.

This decision is determined by the Elders. Which will be fairly considered on prospective members conduct. The becoming of a fully initiated member is a powerful journey that where strong bonds are made, character is developed & status is earned through deeds of integrity.

This is concluded by a ceremony of Oath witnessed by the group, by the land spirits, by the Gods & by Our Ancestors! Upon receiving your Armring you are now fully initiated as a Northern Boar, as a fully initiated member you are permitted to paint the warriors sigil on your shield and wear particular coloured& patterned weave belts showing your commitment.
