🐾 Chaplin’s Big Weekend! 🐾
Chaplin has been with us for a little while now, and honestly, we have no idea why! He’s such a clever, lovely boy, and we felt he deserved a little time away from the shelter to explore, learn and just enjoy being a dog. ❤️
So, along with a member of our staff, Chaplin hit the town! 🐶
Chaplin is a Collie, which means he’s a very clever boy who loves to use his brain. Keeping his mind busy is really important for him, as a bored Collie can quickly become an unhappy Collie!
He can also find new places a little worrying at first, so trips like this are about much more than simply having a nice day out. They give Chaplin the chance to experience new sights, sounds and environments at his own pace, while building his confidence and learning that the big wide world isn’t such a scary place. 🥰
First stop was Pets at Home, where Chaplin was fascinated by the fish 🐠 and had a good look around the toy section to see if anything took his fancy. We think he may have been tempted by a few things! 😂
After that, we found a quiet spot to sit outside and simply watched the world go by. People walking past, different sounds and everything happening around him gave Chaplin the opportunity to practise staying calm and taking everything in.
And that’s an important part of what we do for the dogs in our care. ❤️
It’s not just about providing food, shelter and a safe place to sleep. We want our dogs to have experiences that help them grow in confidence, learn new skills and discover what they enjoy. For some dogs, that might mean a big adventure. For others, it might simply be sitting somewhere new and learning that they’re safe.
Every dog is an individual, and we work with them at their own pace to give them the best possible chance of finding the right forever home. 🏡🐾
And Chaplin? He did brilliantly. 💙
He’s a clever, affectionate boy with so much potential, and we’d love to see him find the family who will keep his brilliant brain busy and give him all the adventures he deserves.
