Welcome to this week's RSPCA Northumberland West Newsletter.

There is a lot going on this week......

But first our Dog Show is returning in 2026!!

We are a mere 5 weeks away from our first Dog Show since 2019. Being held on Sunday 19th July, from 11am-3pm at Tyne Green in Hexham (weather permitting).

We will have plenty of classes for your dog to enter, no matter the shape size or age, and all just £1 to enter. There will also be a number of craft and Doggy based stalls for you to look at between the classes, as well as a fantastic food van, and a coffee van.

We will also have the RSPCA Northumberland West Rescue Dog Parade, this will be a parade of the dogs we have rehomed. So if you have had a dog from us in the past, please get in contact and we can add them to our parade if you want to take part.

We hope to see you all there, for what promises to be a great day.

We also have some new rabbits. RSPCA Inspectors took over 100 Rabbits from a property in Newcastle, with some going to other local Branches and charities ready to be rehomed. We took in a fantastic mother and 9 kits. The Kits are around 4 weeks old, so not quite ready to be rehomed, and the mother is around 1 or 2. We will be putting the full information on our website, once they have gone through all our Veterinary checks. So keep an eye out for them.....

Talking of Rabbits, we have a winner for our Rabbits and Guinea Pigs section of our Little Friends competition! Well done to Milk Thistle the Guinea Pig who received the majority of the votes. The winner has been notified, and they will be receiving their prize soon.

However there will be NO vote for the other small furries, as we didn't receive any entries for that section.

Featured animals......

It isn't just Rabbits we have taken in, we have also taken in a number of cats, ranging in age, as well as 3 kittens. These will be going on our website soon, and like the rabbits just need to go through their vets checks to make sure they are ready for rehoming.

All the cats will be vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered. The Kittens will be vaccinated and micro-chipped, however due to their age they won't be neutered, but we can support you with that.

If you are interested in any of these animals, or indeed any of the animals we have available for adoption, please visit our website where there will be more information (https://www.rspca.org.uk/local/northumberland-west-branch/findapet )
and download and fill in a 'Perfect Match Form', which can be found at the bottom of the 'Find a Pet' page.

Welcome to this week's RSPCA Northumberland West Newsletter.

This week has been National Volunteers week, and we just wanted to say agin, a massive thank you to all our volunteers that support us in so many ways.

Whether that is sorting through all the Wonderful donations we receive, welcoming and helping our customers, the shops wouldn't run without them.

But also to our Trustees, who are all volunteers as well. They give up their time to make sure the Branch runs, that the shops have the right staff in, amongst a whole host of other duties that keeps the Branch going.

We could not function without any of the volunteers that give their time and passion to RSPCA Northumberland West.

Voting is OPEN for our the Rabbits and Guinea Pigs section of our Little Friends Photo Competition. The voting is only open on our Facebook and Instagram pages, and votes cast on other pages will not be counted.

Voting closes on Tuesday - Once the votes are counted the winner will be notified to come and collect their prize.

Our featured animals this week continue to be our Rabbits, as it stands we only have two pairs left - Twix and Penguin (Both Males) and Quinn and Shade. These are bonded pairs, and would need to go as a pair.

All of our rabbits are fully vaccinated, Micro-chipped and Neutered.

We should be receiving some more rabbits soon, and once they have gone through all their relevant checks and vets visits will we put them on our website. But that doesn't stop you from registering your interest now! You can still fill in a perfect match form (which can be found on our website or pop into one of our three shops and they can print one off for you) and send it to our adoptions officer, and he will keep your application on file.

National Volunteers Week!!

We want to celebrate our Volunteers that give us so much of their time, and keep our shops a welcoming and fun environment to be in. Getting all your great donations sorted so we have some fantastic items to sell.

The time they give may seem like a small thing to them, but it makes a massive difference to everything we do.

Whether it's helping sort through a large donation of plants in Rothbury, helping at our fairs in Prudhoe, or welcoming our Furry Visitors in Hexham, we greatly appreciate everything that they do.

Their work enables us to support the animals in our care, Like Martha a Diabetic cat, who needed insulin and care, and Poppy who needed a toe amputated.

Because of them helping us in our shops, it allows us to pay for the care of animals like Martha and Poppy.

So this post is a massive thank you to all our volunteers!!

Welcome to this week's RSPCA Northumberland West Newsletter.

It's the end of May, which also means its the last chance to get entries in for our 'Little Friends Photo Competition'.

Entries close on Sunday 31st. There are two categories that you can enter. The first is Rabbits and Guinea pigs. So we want to see those diva rabbits and photogenic Piggies.

The second category, is other small furries. So if you have a hamster, gerbil, ferrets or any other small furry friend, we want to see those photos.

To enter we have tried to make it easy as possible. You can either drop in a physical photo to one of our three shops, (Hexham, Rothbury, Prudhoe) and fill out an entry form. Or email a digital copy to [email protected], with your picture, pets name, and breed and your details.

The final four from each category will be picked by RSPCA Northumberland West Staff, and the voting will go live next week, for you our followers to pick the winner.

The competition is completely free to enter! So get those pictures in before Sunday.

The prize for each winner will be a small hamper for your little friend.

Last weekend we spent Saturday at Pets at Home in Hexham, as part of their Wishlist Weekend. We would like to thank everyone that came to speak to us, left a donation, or entered the 'Name the Dog' competition.

Saturday is Rothbury's Big Green Event. This promises to be a fantastic day, with plenty of businesses getting involved. Our Rothbury shop will be there, with 2 stalls at the event, and 3 stalls outside the shop, selling everything for your gardening and outdoor needs. They are also running a raffle with prizes including a Plant Hamper, and a Vegetable Hamper. They also have a 'Green Day Name the Teddy' competition running. Tickets for both are £1, call into the shop or go and see them at the Rothbury event and ask for more details.

The featured animals this week we have a focus on the rabbits we have available.

We have been separating them into bonded pairs, so they are ready to be rehomed together. Twix and Penguin are our only all male pair. They just didn't want to be separated from each other. Next up is Quinn (m) and Shade (f), and then we have Spot (f) and George (m).

All of our rabbits have been vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered. If you would like any further details on these rabbit pairs, please visit our website or contact our adoptions officer.

If you are interested in any of these animals, or indeed any of the animals we have available for adoption, please visit our website where there will be more information (https://www.rspca.org.uk/local/northumberland-west-branch/findapet)

Welcome to this week's RSPCA Northumberland West Newsletter.

It's the Wishlist Weekend at Pets at Home, and through our partnership with them, we will be at the Hexham shop on Saturday. The Wishlist Weekend is all about how you can help charities like us look after the animals in our care.

This weekend we are asking for donations for our smaller friends. Although we have been focusing on a couple of our dogs the past couple of weeks, we have a number of small furries still looking for their forever homes, especially Rabbits.

So if you do happen to visit Pets at Home Hexham on Saturday come and see us, and ask about our Wishlist.

Speaking of our Little Friends, our 'Little Friends Photo Competition' is in to its final week! So there is still plenty of time to enter your pet into our competition.

There are two categories, Rabbits and Guinea Pigs, and other Small Furries. So do you have a Hamster that loves its photo taken? a Gerbil who can be a bit of a Diva? A Guinea Pig who is a bit of a poser? then we want to see your photos.

Entering could not be simpler - you can either drop a physical copy into one of our three shops in Hexham, Prudhoe and Rothbury, or you can email a digital copy to [email protected]

Entries close on Sunday 31st May - so get those entries in to be within a chance of winning a prize for your Little Friend.

At our Hexham shop, we aren't just celebrating our little friends, but all furry visitors to our shop. In the past week we have been visited by some brilliant dogs, from all parts of the country, so we decided to celebrate them. Walking into our Hexham shop you will notice a board on the wall, this is where we are sharing pictures of the animals that have come into our shop.

So if you are out shopping in Hexham, and happen to come into our shop with your Furry Friend, ask abut getting their picture on our 'Furry Visitors' board.

Our featured animals this week, are the same as last week, as we still haven't found a home for the wonderful Vera and Duchess. And most surprising is we haven't had an enquiry for Duchess....yet!!

Vera is a 2 year old Staffie Cross, who is such a loving dog, and loves to meet new people. This dog has so much love to give to the right home. We would suggest that Vera be the only dog in the home.

Duchess is a 4 1/2 year old German Shepherd cross. She is a very active dog and loves to go on walks. She loves her toys as well, and once she has picked a favourite she will carry it everywhere. Like Vera we would suggest that Duchess be the only dog in the home. But if you would like more information, contact our adoptions officer.

If you are interested in any of these animals, or indeed any of the animals we have available for adoption, please visit our website where there will be more information (https://www.rspca.org.uk/local/northumberland-west-branch/findapet )

Today is Rescue Dog Day, and we are marking the day by having a focus on our two long stay dogs.

Duchess is a 4 1/2 year old German Shepherd Cross, who has been with us since the start of March. She is a fantastic dog, who loves to go for a walk, and loves her toys, and when she has her favourite will carry it around everywhere with her.

And Vera, our 2 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, who has been with us since November. She is a very smiley, loving dog, who loves to meet people. She loves to go for a walk, and will quite happily sit for a treat.

If you are interested in adopting either Duchess or Vera, please fill out a perfect match form, which can be found on our website:
