All volunteers have now resigned as Better Braybrooke Trustees refuse to communicate or address community concerns. Better Braybrooke is a non policitcal organisation who have the lease for the Pocket Park have refused to address the ongoing concerns until after the local elections due to the trustees' busy campaigning schedules. Sadly, the Pocket Park will remain closed until further notice. A no
te from The Pocket Park Team. The African proverb "It takes a village to raise a child" beautifully encapsulates the ethos that The Pocket Park has cherished. This belief underscores the invaluable role of the entire community in supporting, guiding, and positively shaping children and families. It signifies the collective responsibility of the community in nurturing the younger generation, reflecting a collaborative effort and communal support that has built a safe, nurturing environment for all. Through the dedication of volunteers and community members, we have embodied the essence of this proverb, providing a space where children can flourish and families can thrive. Leading and being part of The Pocket Park has been a profound privilege, one that I've wholeheartedly dedicated myself to. Together, we've forged cherished memories, formed enduring friendships, and ingrained The Pocket Park as an integral aspect of our community life, offering free activities and fostering a sense of togetherness. Our accomplishments, including recognition from RHS awards, are a testament to our collective endeavour and unwavering commitment. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all volunteers, past and present, as well as our supporters and the broader community, whose steadfast dedication has made our journey possible. While bidding farewell to The Pocket Park has been a challenging decision, I respect Better Braybrooke's choice to maintain it solely as a park, an open space and honour their vision for its future. However, it's disheartening the lack of support or understanding our community's needs. Moreover, I have genuine concerns about potential personal liability should any issues arise. It is paramount for me to prioritise the well-being of myself and our volunteers, ensuring we have proper legal and financial protection. Looking ahead, I remain committed to serving our community and embracing new opportunities to effect positive change. I am excited to embark on a new chapter as a member of the Friends of Ore Station team, dedicated to establishing a vibrant community garden. With shared values and a wealth of experience to contribute, I eagerly anticipate working alongside fellow community members to continue advocating for community engagement and the importance of initiatives like community gardens. Together, we will continue striving to bring about positive transformations in the place we call home.
