🌞 Our Last CLIP Summer Programme Session! 🌞🌱

Today was the final session of our CLIP Summer Programme, and what a lovely day it was! We were all convinced it was going to rain... but thankfully the weather had other ideas. It stayed lovely and warm! 😊

We had such a fantastic day at the allotment, with lots of wonderful people coming together.

Anna from Hartlepool Carers came along to collaborate and engage with our members and families. She even managed to sign a lovely family up to Hartlepool Carers! 😊 Thank you also for providing lunch and refreshments for everyone 🥪🍰

Darcy from PlayOut Hartlepool arrived jam-packed with activities and adventure, getting our young people involved with nature and exploring the great outdoors. 💐

Joe, our main handyman AKA superstar volunteer, who we pester every time we have another idea that needs fixing, drilling or building 😂, was hard at work helping repair shed panels, ripping a bathtub in half (yes, really! Please see pics for proof 😂💪🏻) and lots more! 🪛🔧

Sophie H, you are absolutely shining in your new role as our Community Allotment Co-ordinator. We are so proud of you! 💚

Sophie B, our adopted CLIPper and also known as Hartlepool Borough Council's Cohesion and Resilience Officer, has now officially been gifted a CLIP Allotment Team T-shirt! She's a total legend who never fails to get a graft on and always takes the time to get to know our community. 😍

We also enjoyed a lovely cuppa with Cleveland Police's Coggie this morning. It's so lovely getting to know the wonderful people in our community 😊☕

There were lots of conversations throughout the day too sharing recipes, fruit and veg (even from other allotments in the area!) and talking about the benefits of being outdoors. From improving our wellbeing and physical health to helping prevent social isolation, these community spaces really do bring people together. 💚

Big thank you to Feeling Fidgety who donated CLIP some needed chairs for the pergola and flooring for the shed library. We are super grateful 🙏🏻 give them a follow for all of your fidget delights!! ✔️

A huge thank you to all of our amazing volunteers and members who came along today and supported our other Summer Programme events too. It has been fantastic meeting so many of you, enjoying this wonderful space with total freedom, and seeing people get to know one another. Always our goal! 🥰

👇🏻👉🏻NEW MINI PERSONALISED COMMUNICATION BOOKS 📖💬

Moving forward from our Communication Boards for parks and outdoor spaces (which we will still have available to give out as always 😊), we have now created some mini, bespoke Communication Books to trial! 📖

As it's a mini book, tell us a few of your (or your cared for person's) likes, favourite / safe foods and drinks, places you visit, and/or anything else that is important to you, and we can create a personalised little communication book around you 😊

Please note as this is something new to us, we are still learning and developing as we go but we're really excited to see how these can help! 💚😊

These mini books are for all ages.

I have trialled one with my youngest child, who has communication differences, and she really likes it! 🥰

My older child also said they would like one for times when they feel overwhelmed, become nonverbal, or are experiencing burnout. They suggested having sentences in theirs such as:

💬 “Please don't talk to me.”
💬 “I feel too anxious.”

This is why we want these books to be adapted around you, or the person you care for. Everyone communicates differently, and what works for one person may not work for another 😊

What a totally busy, fun and fantastic day for our CLIP X Trees for Cities collab! 🌿💚

Our lovely members got stuck into some fantastic crafts and potting and it was great to get creative with nature 😁
A huge thank you to Charlotte for coming along with her organisation and delivering such lovely activities. It was a pleasure to have you with us! 💚

Our team certainly didn’t stop! We got through painting, DIY, planting, weeding, watering, fixing and engaging with our wonderful community aaaand more! 😅🌱

A special thank you to PC Geoff Coggin, who got stuck in and helped our team even build the sink! Thank you so much for coming along, getting involved and engaging with our community. 👮🏻👏

It was also fantastic reuniting with our members, both new and old. 💚
The youngsters enjoyed some of our healthy produce, snacking on fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and apples 🍅🥒🍎 while the girls got creative with some art in our library shed. 🎨📚

Scott worked incredibly hard weeding the pumpkin patch and now we can finally see the pumpkins again! 🎃😂 Thank you sooo much!

Sophie B, Hartlepool Borough Council's Community Cohesion and Resilience Officer, also lent a hand. We’ve kind of adopted this wonderful human now 😂 She’s fantastic with our members and such a great asset to this town! 😁

We also celebrated our wonderful Trustee Dawn’s birthday with cake and snacks! 🎂🥳 Dawn keeps bringing the cutest little pieces of décor, which gets Sam very excited because she can't wait to put everything up! 😂 And... we also unveiled something very special this morning 🥰 We’ll be sharing more about that very soon!

We were also delighted to welcome Colin Hall - Hartlepool Author, who brought along some signed copies of his fabulous book Trees Company! 📚 These will be available to read while visiting the allotment, perfect to enjoy with a cuppa in the pergola. ☕💚

Honestly, what a busy, fun-filled day! Seeing this place come to life and being used for what it was always destined for is something really special. 🌿

Thank you to every single person who has visited, you have played a part in making our Community Allotment what it is becoming. 💚

🌳☕ A lovely day at Place In The Park FunDay! ☕🌳

Sam visited Ward Jackson Park today with her family and planted some of our CLIP Park Communication Boards in the fabulous book section in the café! 📚💬
We hope they can help people using this lovely outdoor space. ☺️💚

There was lots going on, and it was great to see families coming together for plenty of fun! 😊 They make a pretty great coffee too! ☕☺️

It's good to be back in the office! 🙌

I've spent the last 4 months down at our community allotment, often working 10-hour days alongside our amazing team, clearing the site and getting it ready for our community to enjoy. It's been hard graft, plenty of mud, dust, aches and pains, but I've genuinely loved every minute of it. 🌱💚

That said, it feels so good to be back at my desk, mud-free, dust-free, wearing nice clothes again and catching up on some much-needed admin work for the charity! 💻☕

There are lots of exciting things happening behind the scenes at the moment, and we can't wait to share some of the plans, opportunities and developments we have been working on very soon.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us, volunteered, donated, attended sessions and believed in what we're building together. The allotment is becoming something really special, and this is only the beginning! 🌻

We’re so excited to officially welcome Sophie to the CLIP team as our new Community Allotment Co-ordinator! 💚

Thanks to funding from the fantastic The National Lottery Community Fund, we’re now able to bring Sophie on board and we couldn’t be happier!

You’ll be seeing a LOT more of her down at our allotment (although, if we’re honest, she practically lives there already! 😂).
