The Bradley Lowery Foundation, has been set up to support families fundraising for treatment or equipment not available on the NHS

The Bradley Lowery Foundation was established in August 2017 after Bradley Lowery lost his fight to Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer. In 2013 his mum, Gemma, started a fundraising campaign to raise funds to get Bradley treatment in the USA, which was not available in the UK. The campaign was very successful and with the support off thousands of people, raised over £1.3m, as well as vital awareness for neuroblastoma and childhood cancer in general. The donations provided the funding base for the charity. The Bradley Lowery Foundation aims to support families who are fundraising for treatment or equipment, which is not readily available or covered by the NHS. This includes all illnesses and conditions. The foundation also: supports research into neuroblastoma and childhood cancers; is developing plans to support a £600,000 holiday home in Scarborough; runs a support line for the families of children with cancer in the North East. Having the foundation, has given me a purpose. I know that Brad would be so proud to see how many children his name is able to help. He has left a lasting legacy, and I know that although he was only with us for a short time, with his strength and determination, he has changed the lives of many. I am so proud of my little boy, he inspires me every day to keep fighting for families we support.

This weeks throwback is from Halloween back in 2016, our last Halloween with my beautiful boy. Bradley was back on chemo at the time but we were lucky that his chemo side effects hadn't quite kicked in yet so we still got to enjoy our Halloween 🎃

🎄The PJ Pledge! can you help us make a difference this Christmas? 🎄

Every Christmas, we see so many amazing toy appeals helping to make Christmas special for children, but sometimes it's the everyday essentials that can be overlooked.

For children spending Christmas in hospital, a little comfort can go a long way. Something as simple as a brand-new pair of pyjamas can help make a difficult time that little bit easier.

That's why we're launching The PJ Pledge at the Bradley Lowery Foundation! 💙

We're asking local businesses to get involved by pledging a minimum of 10 pairs of children's pyjamas. Each business will be allocated a specific size, helping us collect a range of pyjamas for children in hospital.

Our goal is to provide at least 230 pairs of pyjamas this Christmas. Which will then be given out by our BLF support worker who is based up at the RVI Newcastle.

We're looking for businesses who would like to get involved, make a difference and help us bring a little extra comfort to children who need it most.

This wonderful group of community champions are walking from Robin Hood’s Bay to Super Brad’s Pad (11.2 miles) to raise money for both foundations today!

Brad absolutely adored dressing up so naturally loved Halloween too. He would grab any excuse to dress up with both hands 😂

Supporting families through the moments that matter most ❤

One of the difficult things about the work we do here at the Bradley Lowery Foundation is that, due to privacy and GDPR, we aren't always able to share the support we provide to families. So much of what we do happens quietly behind the scenes, but that doesn't make it any less important.

Today, we are able to share a little about how we've been supporting one of our families through an incredibly difficult time.

We have been supporting a mammy through the process of designing and ordering her beautiful daughter's headstone. No parent should ever have to face the heartbreak of making these decisions for their child. It is an emotional and overwhelming process, with so much to think about at a time when a family is already carrying more pain than words can ever explain.

We were also there to support the family with the planning of their daughter's funeral last year, and we are so grateful that we can continue to be there for them as they navigate life without their precious girl.

At the Bradley Lowery Foundation, our support doesn't stop after a child gains their angel wings. We know that families need support in so many different ways, especially during the moments when life feels impossible to navigate.

To this beautiful family, we are sending you so much love. We feel privileged to be able to stand beside you, and we will continue to be here for you whenever you need us ❤
