Renewable energy is a term that we hear quite regularly. It's useful to remind ourselves what it is - energy that can be replaced such as solar, wind, or tides, rather than fossil fuel based energy, where the fuel is used once and then is gone forever.

It's today, so our Myth-busting Monday is about wind turbines. These are designed to make best use of the winds in a particular location, and the placement of wind turbines is very carefully researched and monitored.

The Durham Energy Manifesto, a project by Threads in the Ground, launched at Redhills Durham last night. The craic was mighty, the food was excellent (shoutout to Re-f-use) and the buzz was exciting! Great to see the enthusiasm and pride of everyday people doing

Last week we held our Community of Practice meeting at Community House. This was a chance for our Energiser Hubs to get together, learn from each other and support each other to make a difference in our communities across East Durham. We talked about how small changes can make a cumulative difference to energy usage. (And monitoring, but that was less interesting.)

Often change happens because we can create spaces where people can talk to each other, and find ways to start a new story.

Climate Change doesn't just refer to the fact that the weather changes, but also how quickly that change is happening. The warmest temperatures on record tend to have occurred over the last twenty or so years, showing that the planet is actually heating up.

Biodiversity describes the way that there are so many different kinds of animals and plants. It's a term to describe one of the systems of nature - in general, greater biodiversity )i.e. lots of different plants and animals alongside each other) is a good thing.
