A big thank you to Fiona Tidd and Jo from West Essex Wellbeing for visiting our Rosie Centre to provide health checks for the women we support.

Access to health and wellbeing services can make a real difference, and we're grateful for the time, care and support they offered throughout the session.

It was a fantastic morning, and the women who attended found it both helpful and informative. Thank you for helping us support healthier futures for our community. 💙

June marks Pride Month, a time to recognize, celebrate, and stand with LGBTQ+ communities, while acknowledging the history behind the month and the ongoing need for equality, visibility, and inclusion.

Pride began in 1969 as a protest led by LGBTQ+ people against discrimination, violence, and injustice. Today, Pride remains both a celebration of identity and a reminder to keep building safer, more inclusive communities for everyone.

At Safer Places, we understand that LGBTQ+ people can experience domestic abuse too and may face additional barriers when seeking support. We are committed to providing inclusive, non-judgmental services where everyone is heard, respected, and supported.

Throughout Pride Month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals and communities.

We were proud to attend the launch of the Hertfordshire Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Partnership Strategy 2026–2029 and the new Communications Charter in Stevenage this week.

The event brought together organisations and partners from across Hertfordshire to strengthen a shared commitment to preventing violence against women and girls and improving support for survivors.

We’re also proud that our new CEO, Victoria, signed the Communications Charter on behalf of our organisation — supporting responsible, survivor-centred communication and reporting around VAWG.

Thank you to everyone involved for such a powerful and important event, especially the speakers who shared their lived experiences and insights.

Together, we can help drive meaningful change. 💜

A very warm welcome to our new CEO, Victoria Mason 💜

Over the past month, Victoria has been out visiting services, meeting staff and volunteers, and learning more about the incredible work happening across Safer Places every day.

Victoria brings more than 30 years of experience across healthcare, social care, law, policing and children’s services, alongside a passion for trauma-informed support and care.

Speaking about her first few weeks, Victoria said:

“I have been blown away by the incredible work you all do and the skill and compassion of staff and volunteers towards the individuals and families that come to us for help.”

We’re excited for this new chapter and the opportunities ahead as we continue working together to support people to reach safer places.
