Severnside Security Ltd recently chose us as their Charity of the year and they have really got stuck in with their fundraising efforts by coming up with new and unique ways of raising money, from dressing up as chickens to holding a Halloween theme bonnet competition.

It is nearly time to get the festive knitwear out…which means time to start thinking about Christmas Jumpers!

We are seeking support this December and hopeful that your school, group or work place would consider holding a Christmas Jumper Day in aid of James Hopkins Trust this year?

All you need to do is pick a day to suit you in December, ask your colleagues to wear their Christmas jumpers and make a minimum donation of £1 to James Hopkins Trust. We can assist with providing you with your own custom poster and a link/qr code so that you can collect donations online.

All money raised will go towards providing nursing respite care for life-limited and life-threatened children in Gloucestershire.

Thank you Dinky Ponies for your honesty abut this. Your worries are and concerns are what a lot of people feel before visiting us however everyone leaves smiling and knowing that the picture that they had in their head was far from the truth.

Before my very first visit to a children’s hospice, I’ll admit I was nervous.

I was warned not to do it. That it would be too difficult, too emotional. Something perhaps best left to others.

But I didn’t listen. I wanted to do it. In fact, I wanted to push myself to do something that I knew I might find incredibly difficult.

I didn’t really know what to expect, and like so many people, I had always associated hospices with end of life care.

But that first visit to The James Hopkins Trust completely changed my perception.

What I discovered was a place filled with warmth, love, laughter and kindness. Yes, there is sadness, and families facing unimaginable challenges, but there is also so much joy.

Children’s hospices are about so much more than end of life care. They are about living, making memories, supporting families and bringing happiness into the lives of children facing extraordinary challenges.

My ponies fit into these special places so beautifully. They don’t need words, they don’t judge and they expect nothing in return. Just a gentle presence, a soft nose to stroke and a little unconditional love.

I feel incredibly privileged that we get to share these precious moments.

And if there’s one thing these visits have taught me, it’s that even in the most difficult circumstances, there can still be so much happiness ♥️

Kitt had the best time playing in the sensory garden. He enjoyed using the crossing to get to the wooded area of the garden to play in the house. He did a suer job at pressing the button and waiting patiently for the green man to show before crossing.
