One of the best Teckels rehoming tales ever...
Ron came to us in January 2025 at just 12 weeks old. A gorgeous Rottweiler x Shar Pei, he was overlooked again and again because of his breed and colour. He spent a short time in a home, but it wasn’t the right fit and he came back to us. 💔
Well, this boy has finally landed on his paws! He’s now living his best life with his amazing owner Liz and her family, and we couldn’t be happier for him. Ron has written us an update, so grab a cuppa and have a read!
Hey guys, Ron here.
I thought you might be missing me, so I wanted to let you know what is going on with my new life and family as it’s been a month now.
Well, where do I start, I have got to admit the first couple of weeks were a bit strange as I kept hearing strange noises that I wasn’t used to, and it did scare me a bit but my new Mum and Dad kept telling me what things are and promised me nothing would hurt me. There is this one thing that is quite noisy and Mum uses it a lot, she said it’s a hoover to clear up after me, I like following this around now just so I can create more mess & fur.
I did have a couple of accidents in the house, but I was told accidents happen and they can be easily cleaned up. I soon realised there is a big open space, they call it the garden and if I go to the toilet out there, my slaves pick it up and throw it away.
Mum and Dad are trying to convince me that when we go out the front of the house, it’s not a big, scary world. I am still not sure of this, so I tend to just sniff around and walk round the car in circles. Although I am such a clever boy, if Mum opens the back of her car, I can jump in the back and go on an adventure. They took me the other day to this big field, and they even bought a tennis ball with them. I had great fun and even climbed on a big ramp type thing…. I didn’t have any choice, Mum put my ball up there, so I had to go and get it. I stayed on a massive, long line for a while but after I pulled Dad over, they let me play freely. It was so much fun. They even put me on my normal lead, and we went for a walk all around the edge of the field. By then I was really tired, so I jumped back in the car and told them I want to go home for a sleep.
They have also taken me on a walk not far from my new home, in the car mind. I walked nicely for some of it and before I knew it, I recognised my home, so I pulled Dad along as I was getting a bit scared. Yesterday was a fun day, they took me to a new place, they called it the beach. I even went in for a paddle.
My home life is so relaxed, Mum and Dad let me go where I want to, well most of the time. Mum told me I was being a pain this morning as she wanted to take the sheets off the bed to wash them so I decided to lay down and demand tummy tickles and then proceed to use Mum as a climbing frame (I do this quite a lot), I am nearly as tall as Mum when I stand on my back legs.
I spend my nights being a space invader on Mum & Dads bed and I have the best sleep. When I wake up, I am so excited and I activate Launch Mode where I have crazy zoomies, I forget how big I am though so mum says I must be careful.
I have so many toys & tennis balls, I love getting them out of the toy box and leaving them wherever I feel like, the slaves then pick them up and put them away, to me this means they must be moved again by me.
I am so pleased you let this family take me to their house, I really like it here although I do miss you guys and everything you did for me, but I love having space to roam freely all day and night.
I have asked Mum to keep sending you pictures, just so you don’t forget me.

Thank you Liz for giving Ron the forever home he deserved all along!
But Ron’s story is also a reminder that there are so many more dogs just like him sat in our kennels right now, overlooked and waiting for their forever homes. Our long termers Amber and Lola have been waiting patiently for their turn, and they deserve their happy ending just as much as Ron did. 💛
