ADOPT A GREYHOUND!!!

How many greyhounds can you spot in this picture? Type your answers below :D

10 Reasons why you should adopt a grey!
1. They are surprisingly calm indoors
Despite being known for racing, greyhounds are often called "45-mph couch potatoes" because they spend much of their time relaxing and sleeping.
2. They don't need excessive exercise
Most greyhounds are happy with a couple of daily walks and an occasional opportunity to run. They generally don't require hours of intense activity.
3.They are gentle and affectionate
Greyhounds tend to form strong bonds with their families and are often loving, loyal companions.
4.They are usually quiet dogs
Compared with many breeds, greyhounds bark relatively little, which can make them good neighbors in apartments or closely spaced housing.
5.They have short, low-maintenance coats
Their coats require minimal grooming, and they typically don't have a strong dog odor.
6.They adapt well to flat living
Their calm indoor nature and moderate exercise needs often make them well-suited to smaller living spaces.
7.You're giving a dog a second chance
Many adopted greyhounds come from racing, breeding, or rescue backgrounds. Adoption provides a home for a dog that needs one.
8.They are generally friendly and polite
Many greyhounds have a gentle, sensitive temperament and get along well with people.
9.They can be good companions for adults and older children
Their relaxed nature often makes them enjoyable family pets when introduced and supervised appropriately.
10.They are unique and elegant dogs
With their distinctive build, graceful movement, and expressive personalities, greyhounds are unlike any other breed.

Poor Kiki had to have another operation to remove mammary masses that had suddenly appeared 😭she is already reserved to her forever home so heartbreaking to have to go through this so close to her happily ever after

However she has come through surgery well and we are please we were able to support her and get her well again

Huge thank you to everyone who donates, your help means we can say YES straight away to these life saving ops, without the need to rush around doing fundraisers before we can get dogs in for the treatment they deserve

Irene! One of the last of our Poms to find a home :) sadly she has been under treatment for a nasty inner ear infection, which has held back her ops. However she has now undergone her dental (horrible dental disease so desperate to be done!)

Spay next and then she is ready to find her forever home. She is so happy and bouncy now that her infections have been sorted, it’s taken years off her! special thanks to her foster mum Lorraine who has kept her all this time and given her loads of love to see her through 🥰

Huge thanks to the some of the hardworking crew at Aviva who used their day of volunteer to come and help out with getting our paddock in order for the dogs to run and play!

They all got stuck in and with a smile, a joy to have around Kennels and we are super grateful for their help!

🐾 Meet Dolly 🐾

Please read Dolly's full advert before applying. Dolly is fearful of men and will require very slow, carefully managed introductions. Ideally, she is looking for a female-only home. She will also need an experienced, patient, terrier-savvy adopter who understands rescue dogs and is willing to give her the time she needs to build trust. 💕

Date of Birth: 02/02/2024
Size: Small
S*x: Neutered Female
Good with other dogs: Best as the only dog in the home
Good with children: Adult-only home
Good with cats: Unknown

Dolly is a funny little scruffball who came into our care from the stray kennels and has quickly won hearts with her huge personality.

Full of love, fun, and affection, Dolly is a cheeky little character who loves attention and has a wonderful habit of "dancing"—especially when treats are involved! She brings endless entertainment to her foster home and keeps everyone smiling with her playful antics.

While Dolly has so much love to give, she does need a special home that understands her fears. She can be very wary of unfamiliar men and, on occasion, new women too. Once she trusts someone, she forms strong bonds and becomes a loyal, affectionate companion, but she needs people who will respect her boundaries and allow her to progress at her own pace.

For this reason, Dolly will need several meet-and-greets with any potential adopter before going home. Although she currently lives with children, we feel she would be happiest in a calm, adult-only household with limited visitors and not too much day-to-day bustle.

Dolly loves her walks, enjoys spending time outdoors, and would suit a semi-active home that can provide both adventure and companionship. After a day of exploring, she's more than happy to curl up for cuddles and enjoy some quality time with her favourite people.

Dolly currently lives with another dog and has had canine friends in the past. However, she can be vocal when on lead and requires careful introductions to new dogs. To give her the best chance of settling into a new home successfully, we are looking for a home where she can be the only dog and enjoy all the attention to herself.

Dolly is a wonderfully quirky little girl who simply needs the right people to see past her worries and help her feel safe. In return, she will reward them with loyalty, laughter, and endless affection.

Could you be Dolly's perfect match?

Please share for Roy

I am a greyhound, slender as a sigh,
With moonlit legs and watchful amber eyes.
I dream of couches softer than the track,
And someone smiling when I wander back.

The kennel walls are kind, but not a home.
I long for fields where I am free to roam,
For gentle hands that scratch behind my ears,
And voices I can learn and love for years.

They say I'm fast—and yes, I love to run,
To chase the wind beneath the golden sun.
But when the race is over, what I crave
Is simply being someone's loyal brave.

I'll lean against your leg when days are hard,
Stand quiet watch beneath your garden yard.
I'll greet you as though you've been gone for years,
And share your joys, your laughter, and your tears.

Each time the shelter door swings open wide,
My heart begins a hopeful little ride.
"Could this be them?" I wonder with a start.
"Could they have come to choose my waiting heart?"

Until that day, I'll wag and wait and see,
Believing there's a family for me.
A place where I belong, where love won't end—
Not just adopted, but a cherished friend.
