Royal British Legion, Dursley & Cam Branch

Royal British Legion, Dursley & Cam Branch We meet 18:30 on 1st Wednesday of each month at Oak at Kingshill. Our AGM is on 1st of October Everything we do needs to be enjoyable.

Dursley and Cam Branch is the main Legion presence in the South of Gloucestershire. Our influence straddles the M5 motorway between junctions 13 and 14. We have about 100 members, a total that has doubled since 2006, of which we will see 25 to 30 attend meetings on a regular basis. We support local Legion and non Legion events as well as organising some of our own. We deliver welfare services for

our beneficiaries and we raise money for the Poppy Appeal but we try not to take ourselves too seriously. We have a good spirit of unity and comradeship within the branch and new members are guaranteed a sincere services welcome and a whole bunch of new friends. Click the link for our website for more detailed information. If you want to be a member of the Royal British Legion and you live in the south of Gloucestershire then Dursley & Cam is the branch to be in.

✨ Chantry Centre Kicks Off Centenary Celebrations 💫

The Chantry Centre has launched its centenary celebrations, marking 100 years since the incorporation of the original forerunner of the charity, RA Lister Recreation & Social Club Ltd in 1926.

As part of the centenary launch, supported by grant funding from Dursley Town Council, a new display board was unveiled at the front of the Chantry Centre. Together with a series of internal graphic panels, the displays tell the fascinating story of the Club and the Chantry Centre over the past 100 years.

Visitors can also view a range of historical memorabilia, including a large plaque kindly lent by Dursley Heritage Centre. The displays will remain in place throughout the centenary year, and everyone is welcome to come along and explore the Chantry Centre’s rich history.

Chair Adrian Judge also announced an exciting programme of events for 2026 and launched the Lister Hall Floor Appeal to replace the 70 year old wooden sprung floor!

Many veterans carry more than most of us ever see.

They’re trained to cope, to push on, to stay strong – and that can make it even harder to ask for help when things become overwhelming.

Radford (pictured left) is now raising awareness of this after his brother (pictured right) sadly took his own life. Known as JB, he was a veteran who served 18 years with the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

Today, he’s sharing three simple but vital reminders for all those within the Armed Forces community

- Asking for help is not weakness

- Listening without judgement matters

- Checking in with your loved ones can save lives

If you’re a veteran and struggling, please know you are not alone – even if it feels that way right now.
