Well Glasgow, you showed up and then some! The first edition of Music Makes Glasgow was special, but yesterday you took it to another level at Drygate Glasgow We’re still processing the emotions, counting the donations and looking through the photos from yesterday’s event. There are too many people involved to thank you all individually, but for now:

- Congratulations to all the young performers - you absolutely smashed it!! In total we had 46 (!!) young people perform on the day. The hard work and dedication that you put in really paid off on the day; you showed up and pushed through the nerves to create something really special. The way you supported one another and celebrated each other was a joy to see. You should all feel so proud of yourselves 🏆

- Thank you to our brilliant professsionals: Alice Faye 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢 PAQUE and our wonderful MC Ifrah Qureshi aka ‘the Lady’ aka unc!WOW! How could the young team not be inspired, sharing the stage with such brilliant, generous artists. Handing the baton down to the next generation with some style ✨

- Thank you to all the volunteers, funders, workshop leaders, partners, house band members and stallholders who made the event run so well. For a staff team of 2 to organise an event on this scale is really ambitious, and we wouldn’t have been able to pull it off without you!

- Thanks to our amazing audience who listened so attentively, bought our lovely new merch, and celebrated the talent on show, showing their support for The Sound Lab’s mission.

Here are your running times for Music Makes Glasgow at Drygate tomorrow! Workshops will run from 2-3PM and 5-6PM so get down early if you want to get involved!

Final tickets on the door, but we’re v nearly sold out at this point.

Great Scottish Run is also tomorrow, leading to widespread road closures in Glasgow - public transport recommended for getting to Drygate Glasgow!

There is a car park for those that really need it - would recommend driving from the north side, and accessing via Ladywell Street.

As a small grassroots organisation, The Sound Lab has always been powered by the goodwill of volunteers. Over the years hundreds of excellent humans have contributed in tons of different ways from supporting lesson delivery, to repairing instruments, helping out with our infrastructure, PR, fundraising, social media and more - because they share our core belief that all children and young people should be able to develop their creative potential.

Shout out to this brilliant bunch who came together at Drygate last night to iron out the final details ahead of Sunday’s big gig, and to all the other excellent volunteers who have contributed in the lead up, or are mucking in on the day. You know who you are! We’re so grateful for your energy, optimism and generosity. 🤝 💪

Folks have been asking about what workshops they can expect at Music Makes Glasgow on Sunday. Of course we want you to get your creative juices flowing too, so there will be fun for all ages, including:

- Steelpan with Nick
- Stop Motion Animation with Amy Normal Day
- DJ’ing with J. Wheelman

MEET DEAN 🎤💙

Dean had been a part of The Sound Lab for the past few months, developing his vocals and growing his confidence as a performer.

Inspired by artists including Liam McCay and Isaac Wood, Dean admired musicians who use raw emotions to shape their music.

Although hes feeling nervous about taking to the stage at Music Makes Glasgow, Dean says it’s something he wouldn’t have been able to do a year ago, and that progress is exactly what The Sound Lab is about 🙌
