CANCELLED - DOCTOR WHO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL and BAD WOLF/RTD

The BBC has announced that the previously announced Christmas special will not be going ahead and the show will not be moving ahead with RTD and Bad Wolf. The show is being put out to tender with the intention to preserve the long term future of the show.

Here’s hoping this is all for the best in the end!

TOMORROW! PETER CAPALDI! Swearing! Satire! IN THE LOOP (2009) Join us to watch the hilarious big screen adaptation of hit BBC satire comedy ‘The Thick of It’ starring Peter Capaldi, written by Armando Iannucci. This screening is presented by the Glasgow Doctor Who Society, a constituted non-profit community group that provides social events and gatherings for fans of ‘Doctor Who’. With doors open at 12.30pm, we will show the film at 1pm with a brief interval half-way through. Link in comments or bio.

“The US President and UK Prime Minister fancy a war. But not everyone agrees that war is a good thing. The US General Miller doesn’t think so and neither does the British Secretary of State for International Development, Simon Foster. But, after Simon accidentally backs military action on TV, he suddenly has a lot of friends in Washington, DC. If Simon can get in with the right DC people, if his entourage of one can sleep with the right intern, and if they can both stop the Prime Minister’s chief spin-doctor Malcolm Tucker rigging the vote at the UN, they can halt the war. If they don’t... well, they can always sack their Director of Communications Judy, whom they never liked anyway and who’s back home dealing with voters with blocked drains and a man who’s angry about a collapsing wall.”

This screening is part of our ‘Doctors On Screen’ season, where we aim to show a variety of films featuring actors who have played the Doctor. We started this season with ‘Withnail and I’ on the 5th of October 2025 and we will be announcing more screenings soon!
MORE INFO:The Glasgow Doctor Who Society is a social group for Doctor Who fans which has been running in Glasgow since 1982. We meet in the Hope and Vincent pub on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month.
