FLYING POLE WORKSHOPS
with guest instructor Elke Bucher at Aerial Edge
Saturday 12th September

Elke Bucher (she/they) is a passionate aerialist who’s been in love with pole for a long time and, more recently, with fly pole, aerial hoop and hair hanging. Over the past years they’ve placed in several competitions such as Miss Pole Dance UK semi-pro and Pole Sports Org (PSO) and performed in Scotland, London and Europe. Elke teaches at Pole Place Glasgow, Glasgow Uni and Strathclyde Uni and abroad. Her signature style consists of strong, ethereal tricks and a strange balance between soft and loud, angry music.

• For this set of workshops, Elke will teach you how to enter, climb, spin and hold tricks safely on fly pole. We’ll study safety and technique for entries and climbs first, review techniques to help with dizziness inspired by ballet and aerials and then learn a few combos!
For the inter-advanced workshop, please make sure you’ve done pole or Chinese pole before and are comfortable with climbing and inverts (a few reps). The combos will be adapted to different levels .
For any specific requirements please ask Elke or our staff in advance!

Meet Charlie.

Charlie travelled from Germany to join our Foundation Course with no previous circus experience.

Four months later, she wasn’t just stronger and confident in the air — she’d discovered new skills, performed in an original ensemble show, and become part of a community that pushed and supported her every step of the way.

In this short clip, Charlie shares a bit of what the experience was like, from arriving as a complete beginner to everything she took away from the course.

If you’ve ever wondered whether circus could be for you, this is your sign to hear it from someone who’s been exactly where you are.

Are you interested? Applications for future Foundation Courses are open now.

Yes, you CAN learn to do this too. Silks and rope both run as their own weekly classes, and often feature in mixed aerial sessions too. Feeling the urge? Book a class! Link in bio.

Acrobatic bar and teeterboard don’t come out for just anyone. They deserve a proper event. So we made one. And it includes flying trapeze and cradle...you’re clear for take-off!!

Aerial Edge Summer Festival, 17–19 July.

Bonus! There’s an Acro Jam all day Saturday 18th, it’s free if you’re taking any workshops.
