Great news for residents and animals in Glasgow!

"Fireworks will be banned in more parts of Glasgow later this year, making it an offence for people to set them off.

The four firework control zones will be introduced in Broomhouse, Pollok, Glasgow Harbour and Govanhill and Pollokshields, as two separate zones are now grouped together.

The neighbourhoods of Govanhill and Pollokshields are being covered by a single zone for the crackdown, which will take place between October 30 and November 9."

The rules mean residents cannot set off fireworks anywhere in the zones or risk being jailed and fined

‼️ Staff at a country house in East Yorkshire have called for a ban on sky lanterns after the burnt out remains of two were found in the hall's grounds.

🐄 This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of sky lanterns; animals, the environment, and people in the area could have been seriously harmed by a devastating fire caused by these two fallen lanterns.

‼️ Bedfordshire farmer, Nigel Barnes, found a fallen sky lantern in a hedge next to his drive, amid severe weather and fires in the region.

🐄 If it hadn’t been found when it was, animals, the environment, and people in the area could have been harmed by a devastating fire.

📣 Following the incident at Mr Barnes’ farm, he is now calling for a ban on sky lanters.
