Care Inspectorate have published a safer recruitment self-evaluation tool. The tool is designed to help services with their commitment to keep people safe, by ensuring staff are recruited appropriately and in line with current guidance. It will help you to evaluate how well you are doing to support all areas of safer recruitment in your service(s) and identify any areas where you want to improve.

Welcome Back!

By now most schools will have started back after the summer holidays and we hope you enjoyed the break. It has been a busy summer for SOSCN and we are delighted to share our upcoming events schedule.. This October and November we will be travelling across Scotland for our in-person Local Networking Events where we will be discussing all thing School Age Childcare. There are 8 events this year and we hope to see you there.

We also have a new series of Expert Webinars that will see a sector leading expert focus on topics such as Trauma Informed Practice, Funding Guidance, and Risky Play. These take place every month and we currently have these events programmed to January 2027.

Had a lovely visit to
City of Glasgow College Riverside Campus today enjoying some spectacular views over the city and met with Katie McDowall to discuss further possibilities of us working in partnership
and to learn about the New Flexible Workforce Development Fund which will provide Scottish businesses the opportubity to access up to £15,000 of fully-funded staff training through City of Glasgow College.

Truly inspirational visit to St Mirin’s After School Club in Glasgow today as they launch details of their fantastic new childcare model which will help guide the childcare expansion. Supported by Scottish Government to test what today’s families need and providing children with additional high quality activities to support more families.
Excited to support the development of this project as part the school age childcare family.
