🏠 A new chapter for Anna and her family 🇹🇿

We are so pleased to share that Anna Kapchojika and her family’s new home is now complete! ❤️

During their expedition to Tanzania this summer, the Milne’s High School students and teachers supported the construction of two family homes. After months of hard work, it is fantastic to share the first pictures of the finished homes and the family able to celebrate its opening.

The students’ hard work began long before they arrived in Tanzania, with fundraising and preparation helping to make the project possible. Their time on the ground then gave them the opportunity to work alongside the local community and see the progress of the home for themselves.

A huge thank you to TAWREF and the builders for their hard work in bringing the project to completion, and to every Milne’s student and teacher who helped make this possible.

One home completed, and one more to come! 🇹🇿🏠

🏠 August Team Home Update

Work on the August Team family home is moving along quickly, and we’re delighted to see the roof now in place! 🧱🏠

With each stage of construction, the home is beginning to take shape, bringing the family one step closer to having a safe and secure home.

A huge thank you to the Team, TAWREF, the local builders and everyone who has supported this project. We can’t wait to see the progress continue! 🇹🇿❤️

🌊Last month we were delighted to welcome Edinburgh Shoreline project aboard the Vine Trust Barge for their Shifting Baselines Exhibition

🎨The exhibition showcased the stories, artwork, data, conversations and ideas gathered through the Shifting Baselines project.

This summer, the incredible Culloden Academy team and their teachers travelled to Tanzania and worked alongside our partners at Tanzania Women Research Foundation - Tawref to support the construction of a new home for Lucia Damas and her family.

We are delighted to share that the home is now complete, and the family has recently celebrated its opening ceremony with our adult team! 🎉 The opening ceremony was a wonderful opportunity for Lucia, her family, the community, TAWREF, the builders and everyone involved to come together and celebrate the completion of their new home. ❤️

From fundraising before their expedition to getting stuck into the building work during their time in Tanzania, the Culloden team played an important part in making this home possible. Their hard work, enthusiasm and commitment helped turn the plans for Lucia and her family’s new home into a reality.

A special thank you must also go to Elly Kimaro, who worked closely with the team throughout the project and helped bring everything together. We are incredibly grateful to TAWREF for their continued partnership and support, and to the builders and everyone involved on the ground, whose skill and hard work made the construction of this home possible. Without them, none of this could happen.

A huge thank you to all of the Culloden students and teachers for everything they contributed during their time in Tanzania. It was wonderful to see their hard work come together in such a special way.

We are so pleased to see Lucia and her family begin this next chapter in their new home. 🏠❤️

🇹🇿 Jubilee Hope September Update! 🇹🇿

Last month, the Jubilee Hope ship visited the islands of Ikuza and Mazinga. The local team were joined by 3 international volunteers. Over the course of the trip 5,352 free medical and dental services were provided to island residents - the highest number of consultations on any trip so far this year! 🩺🪥

We’re bringing the local community together for a special Christmas Community Market Day on Saturday the 21st of November aboard the Vine Trust Barge in Leith. 🌊

We’re inviting local individuals, makers, businesses and charities to host a table and showcase what you do; whether you’re selling handmade gifts, locally made goods, sharing your charity’s work, offering festive treats or simply have something wonderful to share with the local community. 🎁

MV Lady Jean Update! 🇹🇿

In August, the Lady Jean returned to Kazunzu Village of Hope to provide care to the families and surrounding community. The three day visit was a great success thanks to support from the families and local government. The team then spent a further three days providing care on Izumacheli Island. 🩺

Over 700 free medical consultations were provided during the two trips and the team hope to return again soon to continue to support these communities.💙
