We were honoured to welcome volunteers from Wellbeing Works Dundee to the bunker!

Not only was it their first time working with us, but it was their first ever project outside of Dundee, as part of a brand new initiative. And they chose us to pilot it.

The team got stuck into one of our most unglamorous-but-essential jobs on site: removing soil from the side of the bunker.

The energy was brilliant. Great teamwork, hard-working attitude, and absolutely zero fear of getting their hands dirty!

A huge thank you to Laura and the whole crew for making the journey from Dundee and throwing yourselves into it! ☢️

We’re already talking about next time, and we can’t wait.

Something pretty special happened at the Bunker last week. Volunteers got beekeeper training 🐝

Gino from , our bee consultant and Scottish Expert Beemaster came to check on the hives and carry out some upgrades.

He kindly offered to show our volunteers how it’s done!

They suited up, got hands-on, and walked away with real beekeeping knowledge they didn’t have the day before.

That’s what this place is about, community and preserving history.

It’s all about the people who show up, roll up their sleeves, and keep it alive.

Most people who tuned in had no idea where in the world they were!

They were in our nuclear bunker.

Brought their audiences underground for a live Q&A, a full tour, and what came out of it was something we couldn’t have planned for.

One of them had seen this place years ago. Fire-damaged, destroyed, written off.

He came back last weekend and called it a “kid in a candy shop” moment!

Another didn’t even know we existed. He lives nearby.

The people watching are already asking how to get here.

Last Saturday, we hosted an exciting Arm Wrestling event at Barnton Bunker, and it was fantastic to see so many people come along and get involved.

This was a free community event with the space provided free of charge and free entry for the public. We love being able to open the bunker up for local groups and bring people together in unique ways.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, the competitors, organisers and volunteers who helped make the day a success.

Special thanks to The Bald Baker for coming along and keeping everyone fed throughout the event.

Also, a special mention and thank you to Daniel Currie for DJing throughout the night and helping create a great atmosphere.

This May, we’re proud to be part of National Cold War Heritage Week, 18-24 May, 2026.

A nationwide celebration of the sites, stories and people that shaped one of the most defining chapters in modern history.

We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.

We’ve just completed a replica of the Tote Board in the Ops Room, built with the help of 90-year-old Alan Treloar, who worked here as a teenager from 1955-56.

Walk where RAF crews tracked Soviet bombers. See the BBC four-minute warning studio and understand what it really meant to plan for the end of the world.
