Take the scenic route this October, enjoy the autumn leaves.

Winding Walk is back on Saturday 10th October. Explore Edinburgh differently, starting and ending at Barnton Bunker, with stamps to collect and poems along the way.

Pick your route: 6.5 miles or 8 miles.
£10 a ticket, fundraiser to help the ongoing restoration of the Bunker.

It’s almost time to open the gates! This weekend, Barnton Bunker is opening its doors for Doors Open Days 2026.

On Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th September, come and explore our ground level WWII RAF Fighter Command Operations Room and discover some of the stories hidden inside this unique piece of Edinburgh’s history.

Across the weekend, there’ll be:

Volunteer-led walk-throughs
WWII and Cold War stories
Short film screenings
A preview of our upcoming film-festival submission
Plenty more to discover

Walk-throughs run every 30 minutes from 11am–6.30pm.

Entry is FREE.

Donations are welcome and help us continue the ongoing restoration of Barnton Bunker.

One of the most difficult instruments to find a rehearsal space for has to the drums!

For SAMRAT Scotland, it made perfect sense that Barnton Bunker would be their rehearsal home.

For the second year, they have come back to prepare for the Ganesh Festival that just took place this September in Edinburgh.

With more than 20+ drums, they need somewhere they can practise, play at full volume and have the space to be together, without worrying about disturbing the neighbours!

The president of the SAMRAT association, Sonali Nakhate tells us why she decided to return in this video.

We’re bringing the space back to life not only by restoring an important part of Cold War history but by also supporting community groups to thrive in what they love to do.
