What a fantastic day at our Fife Kinship Families Event at the Kirkcaldy YMCA Gallatown Hub

It was wonderful to see so many kinship families coming together to enjoy a day of fun, connection and community. From meeting the alpacas and taking part in activities to making new friendships and connecting with others who understand the kinship care journey, the day was filled with memorable moments.

The event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Intandem, Adoption UK - Scotland (as part of the Foundation for Family Support Services), the Kinship Care Team and Fife Council, with valued support from Ymca Kirkcaldy,Raith Rovers FC, Learning with care and Children's Health Scotland

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success. Events like these provide an important opportunity for kinship families to come together, share experiences and build connections within a supportive community.

We hope everyone left with happy memories, new connections and a reminder that there is a strong network of support for kinship families across Fife.

We’re still smiling after the first ever Intandem Inverness Awards Ceremony šŸŽ‰

Organised by colleagues at Action for Children Scotland and held at the Royal Highland Hotel, the event brought together young people, families, mentors, and partners from across the community to celebrate achievements and the incredible impact of mentoring.

From Highland dancing and face painting to circus skills and a few magical moments (thanks to Elliot Bibby), it was a day full of fun and connection. šŸ’›

A huge thank you to our volunteer mentors—your time, care and dedication make such a difference—and to our local partners who helped make the day so special.

Want to be in the running for future mentor award events? The first step is volunteering to become a mentor for a young person. Find out more here: https://www.intandem.scot/get-involved/become-a-mentor/

We’re saying a fond farewell (but not goodbye!) to two fantastic young people who are finishing up in their roles as Participation Officers with Intandem – Connor and Aiden šŸ’™

Over the past year, they have made a huge difference, helping make sure young people’s voices are heard, valued and acted on. From speaking at events to supporting engagement work, they’ve both thrown themselves into every opportunity.

Connor said: ā€œWorking at Inspiring Scotland has given me a vast amount of experience. The opportunity to give speeches helped me stand in front of people and talk about what matters most to me.ā€

Aiden shared: ā€œWorking for Inspiring Scotland Intandem has been an invaluable experience and I will never forget it. I’ve been able to try things I haven’t before such as public speaking, which I loved doing.ā€

Aiden has been part of Intandem for an amazing 10 years, and both Connor and Aiden have shown just how powerful it is when young people are supported to grow, speak up and lead change. The opportunity was made available through support from The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland.

We’re so proud of everything they’ve achieved and can’t wait to see what they do next. Thank you both for everything 🌟

šŸ’› Volunteers’ Week: Angus’ story

Angus is a busy dad, a civil engineer, and someone who’s always made time to give back. When his daughters started becoming more independent, he decided to use his spare time to support a young person as a mentor with Intandem and Ymca Kirkcaldy.

Since then, his mentoring journey has been filled with simple but meaningful moments — kickabouts, outdoor activities, and chats over burgers where young people feel comfortable enough to open up.

He says mentoring is about showing up, listening, and helping young people feel like they matter.

And the best part? He’s enjoyed it even more than he expected — often looking forward to each catch-up just as much as the young person does.

šŸ‘ As Volunteers’ Week comes to an end, we’re celebrating people like Angus who are making a real difference in their communities.

Could you do the same? Find out more here: https://www.intandem.scot/get-involved/become-a-mentor/

šŸ•šŸ¾šŸ§ From rating pizzas to trying out ice skating, it’s often the small, everyday experiences that build meaningful mentoring relationships.

A new film created by young people in our InVoice group brings these moments to life, showing the positive impact mentoring can have on children and young people.

The film showcases the power of connection, trust and the mentors who show up for children and young people.

šŸ’› This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the incredible mentors who give just a few hours each week to support a young person — creating lasting change for both.

Could you be that person?
