Garvald Edinburgh

Garvald Edinburgh Our workshops craft change for people with disabilities and beautiful products everyone can enjoy

We offer creative day opportunities to around 230 people, both in our own buildings and in community settings. Our high-quality workshops provide diverse craft, artistic and educational activities including: pottery, glassworking, joinery, puppetry, tool refurbishment, furniture restoration, textiles, painting and more. Our bakery, confectionery and canteen workshops offer the opportunity to gain

experience in food production. Our shop in Morningside, the Mulberry Bush, provides retail work experience. Garvald runs a wide and changing programme of opportunities across the week, including bio-dance, yoga, swimming, walking groups, aerobics, eurythmy and horse riding. Our community events throughout the year regularly bring together people from across Garvald and the wider community. At Garvald Edinburgh we highly value the opinions and contributions of the people we support. Our User Involvement Worker makes sure that all our users have a chance to influence organisational decisions. From participating in recruitment interview panels to helping to organise fundraising events, the people we support have a real and valued role in shaping Garvald Edinburgh.

Something a little different on our feed - we love a creative community!
We'd love you to join us in celebrating their creativity.

A group of philanthropic artists have organised an art exhibition and sale in support of Garvald Edinburgh.
All artworks on display and for sale have been generously donated by the group, with 100% of proceeds going directly to Garvald Edinburgh.
These artists have been supporting Garvald Edinburgh through their creative work since 2019, and Garvald Edinburgh is deeply grateful for their continued generosity.

We were delighted to welcome this fabulous group of Garvald supporters and fundraisers to our Orwell Art Studios recently. The members were able to share their work and show how important and valued their ongoing support is

Nb. This does not feature Garvald Artists. Funds raised will support the artists in their practice and creative opportunities.

We are delighted to share that 'The Bear Went Over the Mountain', an animation produced by the Garvald Media Workshop, has been selected for screening by Oska Bright Film Festival.

Oska Bright is the world’s leading festival for films made by and featuring people with learning disabilities and autism.

Each year, the BAFTA-qualifying festival welcomes thousands of people to its screenings, and shows work from dozens of countries.

The festival is managed and delivered by a team of ten learning disabled artists, all passionate about film and exhibition.

The Media Workshop are thrilled with this news. 'The Bear Went over the Mountain' (available to purchase from our shop website!) was an immense piece of work that took over 18 months to complete. They are looking forward to sharing it with a wider audience in 2026.

Well done, everyone!
