📣 In2MedSchool Essay Competition 2026
Are you a Year 11–13 student interested in medicine, ethics, or the future of healthcare? This is your chance to explore a big question in medicine and share your ideas.

Who can enter?
• Year 11, 12 or 13 students
• Must be attending school in the United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland)
• International submissions will not be accepted

Choose ONE of the following essay questions:
1️⃣ Can compulsory vaccination ever be ethically justified in the UK?
2️⃣ What should be the primary focus of modern healthcare: prevention, treatment, or wellbeing?
3️⃣ Alzheimer’s disease: how close are we to a cure, and what impact would it have on patients and society?
4️⃣ Will artificial intelligence replace aspects of medical diagnosis in the NHS or simply support doctors?

Excited to share a new online teaching series designed to help both sixth form students and medical students gain the knowledge and confidence to get involved in medical research.

The sessions will be interactive, practical and creative, with a focus on making research accessible and achievable. No prior research experience is needed, so this is a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning how to get started with research.

In2MedSchool is an award-winning, national widening participation charity dedicated to supporting students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds in their journey to medical school. Since 2020, we have provided free mentoring, events, school visits, and resources to level the playing field and ensure a career in medicine is accessible to all.

Our 2024–2025 Impact Report is here 🧡🩵💚

This year, together, we have:

• Reached 3,000+ students
• Matched 1,156 mentor–mentee pairs nationwide
• Delivered 105 school visits
• Supported 1,000+ students through UCAT and interview webinars
• Worked alongside 600+ incredible volunteers

Behind every number is a student who felt more confident, more supported, and more able to see medicine as a realistic goal.

Widening participation is long term work. The barriers are real, but so is the determination of the students we support.

Thank you to every volunteer, school partner, sponsor and mentee who makes this possible.
