We were joined by over 40 people for our first Autism Awareness Easter Walk at Queens Park. It was a wonderful, sunny morning filled with smiles as we explored the park hunting for eggs, learning about autism and completing mini activities that promote mindfulness and wellbeing. The walk was very positively received with many people asking if there would be more in the future and some wonderful comments including “The service users enjoyed it and it was very interactive”.

Our supported living services have been making the most of spring with a competition to make Easter crafts. We received some beautiful entries and the winners were Sutton Court with their handmade Easter bonnets and baskets. Congratulations Sutton Court, what amazing talent you have. We can’t wait to do more competitions in the future.

Victoria and Keith braved the weather to plan the route for an upcoming walk which will celebrate autism awareness month. They explored their local park to create the ultimate walk that will take participants on a treasure hunt with plenty of trivia on autism and activities that encourage mindfulness and promote wellbeing. The walk will take place at Queens Park in Chesterfield, on Wednesday 15th April at 11am. If you are interested in joining the walk, please email [email protected].

Thank you to everyone who came and joined our Easter coffee morning over at Derwent Hub, we had a wonderful time with family and friends. Raising a whopping £593.
Special thankyou to Designate for the clock donation and to high peak competitions for their donations. We also had a visit from some chicks in the afternoon.

Jean was recently joined by her family and friends to celebrate her milestone 70th birthday. Everyone had a wonderful time dancing to music, catching up with each other and most importantly, eating cake. Many happy returns to Jean.

World Down Syndrome Day is observed on 3/21 to represent the 3 copies of the 21st chromosome, which is unique to people with Down syndrome. In 2026, the global theme 'Together Against Loneliness' highlights a critical issue facing many people with Down syndrome and other disabilities, with connection and community key to improving wellbeing. Individuals we support and staff from our day service in Bakewell went into town, and gave notes and cards out, alongside daffodils, and were able to talk to people in our local community about World Down Syndrome day, why we wear odd socks, and how important it is to spread awareness of these events!
