🚜Members of the Chesterfield Canal Trust's volunteer Maintenance Team got to grips with the new side arm flail which will be used to cut back hedgerows and the canal bank 🚜.
Training was provided by James of Agri-Mech of Matlock and funded through a small lottery grant received last year.
The skills will help the team keep the towpath and some local footpaths clear for 🐕dog walkers, 🚴cyclists, 🎣anglers and 🚶ramblers.

😎🌞It seems like ages since it was this warm!
Here folk are enjoying the sun whilst being moored up at Staveley Town Basin for an Afternoon Tea.
Brooke from Sheffield and Alixe both tried their hand at steering Narrowboat Madeline on the Chesterfield Canal.

👇We operate private charters out of Hollingwood Hub on our trip boat, NB Madeline on the Chesterfield Canal. Family and friends, groups and organisations can charter our fully-crewed boat for up to 12 people for two hours for £140 (works out at £12 each). 🗞️🆕More and more of our passengers tell us that they're really looking forward to coming back to take a cruise to the brand new section of the Chesterfield Canal at Bellhouse Basin.
As soon as the canal is filled and it's possible, we will let you know!
Visitors from Eckington and Killamarsh areas joined us on a wet Wednesday afternoon.
Jack took his turn on the tiller and Mike, a ukulele enthusiast from Eckington (and Chesterfield Canal Trust member 👏) was also a dab hand at steering.

💦🌧️Hasland lads Archie and Dexter braved the weather this morning for a very wet trip on Narrowboat Madeline.... but they had no choice really because their Granny was skippering on the boat today, on the Chesterfield Canal!
Both boys had a turn on the tiller under the watchful eye of crew Karen D (granny and photographer😉), Alan G and John T.
PS we do have indoor seating and ☔brollies and blankets so don't let the rain and cold put you off! Come and join us!

🤩🫢Surprise!
A surprise get-together on board Narrowboat Madeline for birthday grandad Jason was organised by daughter Lucia.
The Brampton area folk joined us on the Chesterfield Canal this summer for a private two hour fish and chip charter.

♥️Sheffield area visitors joined us to support our C.R.Y fund-raiser on board Narrowboat Madeline on the Chesterfield Canal yesterday♥️.
Skipper John T said "Passenger Glyn had a turn on the tiller, he was excellent. He brought us all way back from the Winding Hole to Hollingwood Lock. He's another candidate for skipper in the making!"
All money raised went to the heart charity C.R.Y (Cardiac Risk in the Young).

♥️We welcomed the lovely Siddall family of Eckington, on board Narrowboat Madeline on the Chesterfield Canal this morning, to our fund-raiser in aid of the heart charity C.R.Y.♥️
Young Amelia took a turn on the tiller as did Ron. Fund-raising organiser and NB Madeline skipper Trevor H decided to brush up on his tiller skills too... passing with flying colours😉!

💔The late Madeline Siddall, a former Eckington School pupil after whom our boat is named, lost her life to an undiagnosed heart condition as a teenager. All money raised today will go to support Cardiac Risk in the Young (C.R.Y). NB Madeline was fitted out by pupils at Eckington School and named in memory of Madeline.

Madeline crew went out this morning to cut back and clear the fallen tree below Hollingwood Hub.
This leaves the waterway clear for our Bank Holiday Monday fund raiser for C.R.Y.
