At last night’s Parish Council meeting, a number of residents raised concerns about the overgrown hedges alongside pavements and roads. Both are causing considerable safety issues for cars and pedestrians.
All property owners please ensure that your hedges are cut back as a matter of urgency.
Nesting season is passed, but even before, if hedges are roadside, they can be cut back.

A letter from URENCO, following on from discussions st the last Parish Council meeting

Urenco has a need to improve the facilities at our northwest gate access to site from Ledsham Lane and as such has been exploring options.

As part of the design and planning process Urenco’s project team is required to undertake investigative works to understand all possibilities – this is the current status of the project. It is entirely normal and necessary for a range of options to be considered so that comprehensive information can ultimately be provided to the Local Planning Authority to enable an informed and balanced decision to be made.

Part of the investigative works include understanding the capacity of Ledsham Lane and any improvements that could be made to it. The plans do not currently include a ‘wagon park’ or laybys. The provision of passing places is being considered as one potential option to enhance safety on what is, in places, a narrow road.

Since last year Urenco has been liaising with all external local stakeholders who would be directly affected by any proposals. Until these discussions have concluded no finalised plans exist that could be shared with the wider community.

Given that the design work is in the early stages, it would be neither responsible, nor consistent with the planning process for us to publicise draft concepts that may ultimately change significantly. We have always committed to local stakeholders, including the Parish Council, that we would share detail at the appropriate stage of the project.

The project forms an important part of the development plans for our site, including support for the government-backed Haleu project which you are already aware of. Once proposals have been sufficiently developed and are ready for wider consultation, we are committed to presenting them to the local community and seeking appropriate feedback.

Please note a permitted drainage survey will shortly commence to which a traffic management plan will be in place for the safety of all concerned.

Urenco will be conducting alarm testing from Monday 15th to Thursday 18th June this week at 5:00 PM, lasting approximately 10 minutes each day. Could you please inform the village.

URENCO have asked us to publicise the following:

due to the road closures on the A41, a delivery that we are expecting to site on Friday is advising that it will need to come through the village.

The vehicles are 18 tonne trucks, and we are expecting 3 trucks on Friday morning and then 3 around lunch time.

Please be aware of the movement of these large vehicles .

Residents can continue to report issues using the Report It pages on the Council website.
