"I didn't choose to be a carer. I'm just a daughter looking after her Mum." 🧡

Many people don't choose the word 'carer' to describe themselves, they simply see it as family duty. But without the right social care options, they feel they had absolutely no choice but to take on the role.

Recognising yourself as an unpaid carers is often the first step toward getting the support, respite, and advice you deserve. You're doing an incredible job, but you shouldn't have to do it alone. At Cumberland Carers, we can carry out a Carers Assessment, and you may be eligible for additional support from us or from Cumberland Council. Find out more here: https://bit.ly/CCarersA

That means 5.8 million people are quietly holding families, friendships, and neighbourhoods together by looking after loved ones who are older, ill, or living with a disability.🥰

The theme of this is Building Carer Friendly Communities, it's a reminder that caring isn't just a private family matter, it's something that touches all of us. Let's make our community a place where carers are seen, valued, and supported.💚
