Kinda chic: Safety Net team edition...

We spend our days talking about wellbeing, healthy habits, boundaries and taking time to look after ourselves...

And then there’s us ☕📱😂

Because behind the work, we’re only human too…sometimes running on coffee, forgetting to take our own advice and trying to stay calm when the Wi-Fi decides otherwise.

A little reminder that nobody has it all figured out.

JUST 3 DAYS TO GO — WE'RE SO CLOSE! 🚨

We’re just £200 away from reaching our £1,000 Big Give pledge target!

Our amazing supporters have already pledged £800, meaning we now need just TWO more pledges of £100+ to reach our goal.

A pledge is a promise of funding, there’s nothing to pay upfront. Reaching our target will help us unlock matched funding through the Big Give Christmas Challenge, allowing us to raise more to support survivors through our Volunteer Service.

Can you help us find our final two pledgers?

You don't have to donate yourself.

- Do you know a local business that might be able to pledge £100?
- Know an employer, organisation or business owner who might be interested? Have a friend or contact who could introduce us to someone who might help?

Please tag them in the comments below, share this post, or send it directly to someone who might be able to help.

Even one introduction could make all the difference and with just 3 days left, we really need your help to get these final two pledges over the line.

£800 pledged. £200 to go. 2 pledges needed.

Could you help us find them?

Wellbeing Wednesday: 5 things you could try when your mind feels busy.

Looking after your wellbeing doesn’t always have to mean making big changes. Sometimes it’s giving yourself permission to rest, making space for your emotions, doing something that brings you joy or simply being a little kinder to yourself.

Swipe through for a few ideas you might want to try this week.

And remember, what works for one person won’t necessarily work for another. Take what feels helpful and leave what doesn’t.

You deserve time, space and kindness too.

💙 We're making great progress!

A huge thank you to Davidson HR Associates, VL Aesthetics - Carlisle, Ifor Williams - Alan Tuer Ltd, Keeleys Building Services and Integrity I T Solutions for becoming our Big Give Pledgers and helping us reach £800 towards our £1,000 pledge target!

We're also incredibly grateful to two individual supporters who have chosen to remain anonymous - thank you for helping us get even closer to our goal💙

Their support will help us unlock matched funding for our Volunteer Service, which helps survivors of domestic and sexual abuse rebuild confidence, reduce isolation and reconnect with their communities.

£800 pledged — just £200 to go!

We're now looking for just 2 more local businesses or organisations to pledge £100 or more and help us reach our £1,000 target by 6 September.

Could your business be next? Or do you know a local business that might be interested in supporting Safety Net? We'd really appreciate you sharing this post with your network.

As a thank you, Big Give Pledgers receive an Official Big Give Pledger digital badge to display on their website, social media or email signature, and we'll also recognise their support across our social media.

Ready to help? You can make your pledge directly through the Big Give pledge form:

📣 We really need your help to spread the word! 💙

We’re looking for two new Trustees to join the Safety Net Board — a Financial Trustee and a Chair of Trustees.

We’re particularly in need of someone with financial experience who can help us strengthen our organisation and support the future of our services for people affected by abuse and trauma across Cumbria.

These are voluntary roles, but the impact you could make is huge💙

We know the right people are out there — we just need your help to reach them.

👉 Please share this post, tag someone who might be interested, or send it to your networks.

Even if you’re not the person we’re looking for, your share could help us find them 🙏

🌿 Places to pause, move and reflect in Carlisle 💙

Sometimes, after a support session, you might want a little time and space before continuing with the rest of your day.

Luckily, there are some lovely places close to our Carlisle office where you can pause, breathe, reflect or simply take a change of scenery.

⛪ Carlisle Cathedral – a peaceful space to sit, reflect and take in the beautiful architecture and stained glass, with a café nearby if you fancy a cuppa.

🌳 Bitts Park – just a short walk from our office, with paths leading towards Rickerby Park, the Sheepmount and along the river. There are plenty of places to sit and pause, as well as spaces for children to play and outdoor gym equipment.

You don’t have to go far, and you don’t have to do anything in particular. A quiet moment, a gentle walk, some fresh air or a little movement can all be ways of taking care of yourself.

💙 Recovery looks different for everyone. Find what feels right for you.

Kinda chic: Safety Net edition

Behind every session, conversation and moment of support is a person taking steps towards recovery.

We love seeing people rediscover themselves, rebuild their confidence, set boundaries and experience moments of joy again.

Recovery doesn’t happen overnight. Sometimes it’s the small changes that mean the most.

And we’re proud to be there for those moments 🫶🏼

🧵🎨 Creativity, connection and a little bit of Japanese-inspired art! 💜

Our Craft Group got creative again this week, exploring Kinusaiga-inspired art – a Japanese technique that uses pieces of fabric to create beautiful pictures without sewing.

Led by Phillo, our members used foam board and colourful fabrics to create their own unique designs, experimenting with texture, colour and creativity along the way.

Our Craft Group is about so much more than making things. It’s a chance to connect with others, try something new, enjoy a welcoming space and take some time for yourself 💜

We love seeing the creativity and care that goes into every piece – swipe to see some of this week’s beautiful creations! ✨
