On Sunday 1 November, we will host an All Souls' Eucharist at 5pm.

The Commemoration of the Faithful Departed celebrates the saints in a local and intimate way. It allows us to remember with thanksgiving before God those whom we have known more directly, including those who gave us life and nurtured us in the faith.

The service will include a liturgical performance of Fauré's Requiem, sung by the Cathedral Choir. If you would like the name of a loved one to be read out during the service, please add it to the list in the Cathedral this week.

All are welcome.

We are so looking forward to hosting Everything Under The Sun in the Cathedral on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October for two incredible evenings celebrating the music of Pink Floyd.

A few things to note:

🎟 Tickets are still available for the Friday concert, please visit www.carlislecathedral.org.uk/tickets to join us.
🌕 Access to Museum of the Moon will be limited on both of these days, due to preparation for the concerts. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
✝ On Friday 30 October, Evening Prayer will take place in Bishop Smith's Registry at 5.45pm. All are welcome!
🍷 Carlisle Cathedral Cafe will remain open until the start of each concert, then will run a pop up bar in the Cathedral for concert guests.

Love certainly is in the air at Carlisle Cathedral this month! It was wonderful to hear more happy news from two visitors to our Moon Lates. Congratulations to Zoe and Scott who got engaged under the Moon! We wish you a very happy future together.

Museum of the Moon is on display until 1 November, please do call in this week if you'd like to have your moment under the Moon!

Spaces are still available for our Remembrance Workshops for Schools.

Taking place from Monday 2 - Wednesday 11 November, children will take part in a Cathedral tour, complete a themed craft activity, and pause for a moment of remembrance.

What a way to end the meeting of the 1st Great Corby and Hayton Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Arden Explorers, which was held under Museum of the Moon last week!

Thank you to Ian Wicks, our Interim Director of Music, for playing the organ as the finale to the evening.

Earlier in the week, the 1st Hayton Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers had also held their meeting here, and across both evenings, more than 30 children made their promises under the Moon. We hope it was an evening that they won't ever forget!

Thank you to all groups who have visited Museum of the Moon this month, we hope you enjoyed the experience!

Provided by Bloomberg Connects, to promote and support our free digital guide on their app, there's a bookmark, featuring books by Canon Rawnsley in the Cathedral library and four postcards to choose from, showing imagery of our famous starry ceiling and organ; our cathedra, or Bishop's throne; the Creation Window; and an armillary sphere (an ancient astronomical instrument used to model objects in the sky), featured in Pierre Gassendi’s Institutio Astronomica (Paris, 1647), Carlisle Cathedral Library.
