Looking forward to Refugee Week plans for next week, here are posters for three welcoming free events at the main campus of Carlisle College (CA1 IHS) - come to Reception to find the events.
Please invite your friends and share this post - see you soon!

> Signs of Welcome on Tuesday 18th June is a hands-on creative workshop and anyone in the community is invited to come and join in - all ages will enjoy this and you can create a sign as an individual, with friends or with the family. The hours are 2-4:30, so there's also time to pop along the Carlisle College after school if you can.

> The Community Conversation event from 12:00-2:00 on Wednesday 19th offers visitors a free hot lunch, on-the-spot poetry writing for all and the chance to enjoy an exhibition of images from the Secret Garden project with local asylum-seekers hosted at Tullie in 2023

> The Community Film Night is on Thursday 20th from 6:00-7:30. 3 diverse short films will be shown, chosen from the 2024 films curated by the UK Refugee Week team. Come and join in!

The theme for this year's Refugee Week is 'Our Home' - here's the beautiful and inspiring image created by Manjit Thapp.

📢 People of Carlisle - have your say 📢

People who live and work in Carlisle and the surrounding areas are being offered the chance to contribute to a major report about the city which will be published later this year.

Cumbria Community Foundation has commissioned the report – Carlisle: Opportunities and Challenges – which will analyse the city’s social needs and issues, and identify opportunities to help communities thrive.

Members of the public are invited to attend an online meeting on Tuesday 9 July at 6pm to hear more about the project.

Lindsey Atkinson and I are so pleased that Care4Calais has shared the story of our blend of projects carried out over the past 18 months with men and women seeking sanctuary in Carlisle - all with the support of Tullie and many other partners. Of course Including the sister-project on this page, the Carlisle Unity Festival - where the top photos come from. Maybe you created one of those Signs of Welcome! Thanks to all!
