Thank you, Garfield Weston Foundation 💛

We’re incredibly grateful to the Garfield Weston Foundation for their continued support of Prism Arts.

We’re especially pleased to share that they have committed to a further two years of core funding — providing vital stability for our work over this period.

This support gives us the stability we need to plan ahead and continue supporting our community with care. It means we can invest in our team, develop our programmes, and create more consistent, meaningful opportunities for learning disabled and neurodivergent artists and performers.

Core funding is the backbone of organisations like ours. It allows us to stay responsive, creative, and rooted in our community, without the constant pressure of short-term funding cycles.

✨ Thank you, Garfield Weston Foundation, for standing with us and making sustained, inclusive creative work possible.

The Brewery Arts Open Exhibition 2026 is now officially open to the public 💛

Prism Arts Creative Director Martin attended the private view on Friday evening to see the work of studio artists Bethany Neaves, Emma Evans and Rosie Thompson in situ as part of this year’s exhibition.

It was a delight to experience the exhibition in the gallery space, and especially lovely to see visitors already connecting with the work. One visitor even wrote in the comments book: “Love the Bethany Neaves.” ✨

The Brewery Arts Open is a fantastic celebration of creative talent across Cumbria, bringing together artists at all stages of their practice in a professional gallery setting.

Important Prism Arts Announcement 🔔

After nearly 18 years, our Strategic Director Catherine Coulthard will be stepping down from Prism Arts this May.

Catherine has been at the heart of everything Prism has become. Under her leadership, we have toured and exhibited the work of neurodivergent and learning-disabled artists across the country, rebuilt our programmes with real determination following the pandemic, and established an advisory board rooted in the lived experience of the people we exist to serve.

Most significantly, she has helped position Prism as a leading voice in inclusive arts practice — a commitment recognised through our status as an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.

None of that happens without vision, tenacity, and an unwavering belief in the artists at the centre of it all. Catherine has brought all of that, and more.

"Catherine’s contribution to Prism Arts — and to the wider field of inclusive arts — has been immeasurable. Over nearly two decades, she has built something genuinely special: an organisation that holds its values with care, champions artists with real conviction, and continues to grow in ambition and reach. We are enormously proud of what has been achieved, and deeply grateful for everything Catherine has achieved in her time with us. We wish her every success in what comes next."

— Vincent and Sarah, Co-Chairs, Prism Arts

Prism Arts is now entering a new chapter. We are taking time to plan thoughtfully for the future and will share more about our next steps in due course. The Board has appointed Maisie Hunt as Interim Director to support the team during this period of transition. The work continues — held by an exceptional team, a committed board and the brilliant community that makes Prism what it is.

- With thanks from the Prism Arts Team.
