It's Accessibility Awareness Day!

Today we celebrate inclusivity and the power of accessibility to enable independence and opportunity for everyone. Everyone deserves equal access and we continue to work hard alongside partners, and our tenants to bring about meaningful change that will nurture independence.

Whether it's equipping a property with ramps and specialist equipment, or working with an organisation like Innovate Trust in 'Closing the Gap' to improve digital inclusion, we will always aspire to be better.

We are delighted to share with you Innovate Trust new 12-month pilot project: Closing the Gap.

This project aims to empower adults with disabilities through the use of accessible technology. This is known as digital inclusion.
Innovate Trust will donate technology with a person-centred programme that includes personalised assessments and ongoing support, helping those on the project build confidence in using new technology and devised.

The goal is to support people to use technology more effectively, enabling greater independence. FCHA's own Eve and Dave are helping with the project that will impact First Choice Tenants in Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and RCT. This project will reduce digital barriers, provide tailored support, and enable tenants with disabilities to access services, build confidence, and live more independently.

The Exotic Zoo experience!

Tenants in North Wales and Shropshire got the opportunity to join us at the Exotic Zoo, getting hands-on with some very special animals including a treefrog, a lizard and an armadillo!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a unique experience! We hope you have done something new and will hopefully introduce places like the Zoo to friends & family in the future.

Tomorrow people across Wales will be able to vote in the Senedd election. Our friends at Learning Disability Wales have written a blog all about the manifestos and what each one could mean for people with a learning disability.

Voting is your right. You can exercise this right by visiting your polling station between 07:00 and 22:00 on 7 May.

Another group of tenants have moved into their homes!

Tenants in Caerphilly have a new place to call home tailored to their needs to allow them to live more independently.

The home now comes with solar panels and an air source heat pump that achieved an EPC A rating, saving money on energy in the winter and making it more affordable to live in a First Choice home.

The ground floor is fully wheelchair accessible including an accessible kitchen and bathroom. This allows our new tenants to wash with comfort and cook for themselves where they may not have had the opportunity to do so where they moved from.

We'd like to thank the community for making all of our new tenants feel so welcome and the contractors who helped us along the way.

National Gardening Day is the ideal time to start planting in your garden and appreciate the green spaces in your community!

We work alongside Keep Wales Tidy - Cadwch Gymru'n Daclus to install raised beds, trellis and planting packages for fruits, flowers and trees.

The work is not over, we have more plans this year to support tenant gardens and look forward to sharing more photos with you soon.
