“I wish I could sit beside you, hold your hand and tell you that you will get through this, even though right now you can’t imagine how.”
Kelly wrote those words to herself on the day she first heard the words: “You have cancer.”
Her Dear Me letter doesn’t shy away from the reality of what came next. The waiting. The uncertainty. The fear. The emotions that can change from one day to the next.
“Nobody really prepares you for that,” she writes.
But Kelly’s story is also one of discovering what can come after the hardest moments.
Learning to slow down. Asking for help instead of always trying to be the strong one. Being kinder to herself. And finding a strength she never knew she had.
Today, Kelly has a new purpose: helping other women feel a little less alone on their darkest days.
“Change doesn’t always mean losing who you were. Sometimes it means finding a part of yourself you never knew existed.”
If you’re facing a cancer diagnosis, supporting someone who is, or simply need to hear that you’re not alone, Kelly’s words might be the ones you need today. 💗
