One of the largest Pride events in the UK and Bristol's largest festivals.

An incredible two weeks of events culminating in a huge outdoor event celebrating music and arts festival on The Downs with over 200 performers across multiple stages. One of the largest Pride events in the UK and with an attendance of 40,000 people, we are also one of the biggest events to take place in Bristol. We are proud to be one of the city's flagship festivals and named in the 2019 global Top 30 World Pride events and Top 3 reasons people visited Bristol. Organised by the community, Bristol Pride is an award-winning, festival that showcases, celebrates and champions LGBT+ Equality across the South West. Bristol Pride is a registered charity (1166817) and we work all year round to challenge homophobia and promote equality and diversity, for all, through various events, school visits, consultation services and lobbying.

This year we put on more than 60 events across two weeks. On Pride Day, over 20,000 people joined our Pride March and more than 28,000 came to the festival on The Downs, with over 250 acts across multiple stages for a day of joy and protest.

Your vote would mean so much. National recognition for the work our community, volunteers, artists and crew put in all year round would help us keep Pride going for years to come.

Bristol Pride are supporting Ace Awareness Week, running 25 to 31 October 🖤🩶🤍💜

Ace Week has been going since 2010, giving people on the as*xual spectrum a week to celebrate how far things have come and to push for better understanding.

As*xual, often shortened to “ace”, is an umbrella term for people who feel little or no s*xual attraction. It covers a wide range of identities and experiences, including demis*xual and grey-as*xual people.

There’s still work to do. Ace people are too often left out of conversations about LGBTQ+ lives, and plenty of aces grow up without ever hearing that as*xuality is a real and valid identity. Acephobia and ace erasure haven’t gone away either.

Being a good ally can start small. If someone tells you they’re ace, believe them. And let go of the idea that everyone needs s*x or romance to live a happy, full life.

Bristol has some brilliant groups making space for LGBTQ+ people of colour all year round, and we are so proud to work with them.✨

They offer somewhere safe to meet people and be yourself. Give them a follow and go along to their next event.

Bristol Ballroom Community, keeping ballroom culture alive in Bristol with a focus on LGBTQ+ people of colour

Bristol QPOC Socials, monthly socials for q***r, trans, inters*x, Black and people of colour

B***y Bass, a women and non-binary DJ collective putting on nights by and for the Global Majority

Bristol Refugee Rights, supporting LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and refugees through group sessions and workshops

We’re also very proud to have diverse line-ups on every stage at Pride Day and across our two weeks of events and official afterparties and we’ll keep working to make the whole festival reflect our community.

Why tackling hate crime is important📢

For this Hate Crime Awareness Week we are sharing some of the highlights from the latest Quality of Life Survey in Bristol.

It shows the reality many people in our community are facing. From high levels of discrimination and harassment to financial barriers that make it harder to access safe and welcoming spaces, these are everyday experiences for many and show that we all need to do more to tackle inequality in the city.

Hate crime awareness is about education and understanding and we all need to do more to tackle hate crime. Movements like Pride create visibility, connection and belonging. Pride is also about taking a stand against prejudice and hate, to keep pushing for equality and to ensure the rights we do have are not eroded.

🚨 If you experience hate crime and are in immediate danger, are being attacked, or the incident is still happening, call 999 and get to a safe place if you can. For anything that isn’t an emergency, you can call 101 or report online at report-it.org.uk.

It's National Hate Crime Awareness Week! 📢

The LGBTQ+ community is only too familiar with this topic and Bristol Pride will always speak up about ways to tackle hate.

This national week of action encourages people to come together and stand against hate. It’s an opportunity for us to show the devastating impact of hate crime and the importance of reporting it, to make connections with communities as we work to prevent it, and to let people know that there are channels of support available to them when reporting hate crime.

This year’s campaign is built around HOPE. 💙

H for Hate Crime Awareness: Knowing what hate crime is, how it affects people, and that it should never be brushed off.

O for Operational Responses. Making sure that when someone reports hate crime, police and services take it seriously and act on it.

P for Hate Crime Prevention: Working to stop hate before it happens, through education and challenging prejudice where we see it.

E for Community Engagement: Charities, authorities and local people working with each other so everyone feels safe to speak up.

Every year on 8 October, we take a moment to celebrate the le***ans in our community and the culture and friendships they've built over the years.

Back in April for Le***an Visibility Week, we talked about why the "L" comes first in LGBTQ+. Today we're looking at the flag.

Did you know what each colour of the le***an flag stands for? Dark orange is for gender non-conformity, orange for community, white for unique relationships to womanhood, pink for serenity and peace, and dark pink for femininity.

This year we've released our Bristol Pride pin badge in a range of Pride flags, including the le***an flag colours, so you can show your Pride every day of the year. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

The Circus Tent had it all on this year! 🎪✨🏳️‍🌈

From incredible acrobatics and circus performances to comedy, poetry, music, dance, and DJ Sets, there were so many magical moments across the day. Jam packed all day long as our performers twisted, balanced, hooped, skated, flew through the air, sang and so much more showing us just how exciting and varied our local scene, and circus can be.

A huge thank you to our programming partners SCRiTCH, Q***r AF Cabaret and the fabulous DTYM for bringing together such a brilliant programme of LGBTQ+ talent, and to every performer and member of the crew who made the Circus Tent such a fantastic part of Pride Day.

Special shout out to The Bristol Ballroom Community for once again bringing their incredible moves, attitude and looks for the Pride Mini Ball, before DTYM took over the tent with DJ sets that kept everyone dancing into the evening. Thank you to everyone who joined us 🎉
