Calling all of our brilliant trustees, doing brilliant things in the sector!

We have a series of trustee-centred events coming up which we would love for you to attend, should you find them useful.

1. We're hosting two Trustee Networking Events this summer - a chance to connect with fellow trustees, share challenges and solutions, and brush up on the essentials of charity law and governance.

2. We’re also running our How to be a Great Charity Trustee training session for more of an in depth refresher of your legal obligations, good practice, common challenges and how the role and responsibilities relate to the whole organisation.

In the words of Lan, a former Voscur trustee (pictured above): "It is an opportunity to learn in ways that no textbook can offer." So, whether you're new to trusteeship, thinking about it, or have years of experience, we'd love to welcome you.

This week, we're taking the time to recognise the people who keep so many organisations going.

Volunteers are essential to the services we all run; they shape them, strengthen communities, and bring lived experience into the work.

June is Pride Month

This makes a time to celebrate LGBTQ+ communities and reflect on inclusion in our work.

For VCSE organisations, it’s also an opportunity to consider how services are designed, delivered and experienced by diverse communities.

It really does take a village, of volunteers! Happy volunteers, we hope you know just how much of an impact you're making to mothers of Bristol and surrounding areas☺️

This Volunteers' Week we would like to say a huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers. From shifts on the Helpline, making Support Calls, supporting families in our support groups to being members of our Board of Trustees, Mothers for Mothers couldn't do as much as we do without your time, loyalty and compassion.

Thank you Mohammed, what a fantastic contribution to our community, improving the lives of those who need it most!

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating all of our amazing volunteers who support blind and partially sighted people at our hubs and behind the scenes.

Mohammed volunteers with our Digital Skills Support Service, helping people learn how to use smartphones, tablets and accessibility features that can make everyday tasks easier.

He says “I love seeing the joy people feel when they’re able to do something on their device that they were struggling with before, then hearing how they’re using it in their day to day life. It makes a world of difference to me knowing they feel happier and more confident with their tech.”

Thank you Mohammed for sharing your time, patience and encouragement with others learning new technology. And thank you to all our volunteers for the difference you make to the people we serve.

The versatility of volunteering roles at Sixty-One is great to see! With each individual making a huge difference to those trying to change their lives for the better. 🤝

We want to celebrate the wonderful volunteers who support the work of SixtyOne whether it be by mentoring someone who has been through the criminal justce system, packing gifts at Christmas and Easter , being a trustee or helping with hospitality at one of our celebration events. We couldn't do this work without you! Thank you all.
