A bat is for life, not just for Halloween 🦇

Our Native Species Team uses passive acoustic devices to monitor bat activity around our Bear Wood habitat 🌳

These devices capture recordings of bat echolocation calls which are unique to a bat's species! At least 11 species of bat have been recorded at Bristol Zoo Project 🤩

Our team also carried out a bat walk this year with some of our volunteers, where they detected soprano and common pipistrelle bats 🙌

Come with us to weigh the bears! 🐻

Join zookeeper Nat as she sees how much weight our brown bears have put on ahead of their big winter snooze 😴 💤

CASE UPDATE: The Beast is still on the loose in Bear Wood, and we need your help to find him this half term! 🔎 😱

Celebrate Halloween with some woolly good fun! Solve the clues and find The Beast together on our NEW Shaun the Sheep family trail 🕵️‍♂️ 🕵️‍♀️

Examine the clues left behind to identify who's been causing havoc at the zoo 🐾

Complete the trail to celebrate the new Sky Original film release, Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom… Can you crack the case this Halloween? 👀

REPTILE AWARENESS DAY 🐢🦎🐊

Join our Senior Keeper, Adam, as he introduces you to some of the reptile species we care for at the zoo 💚

Sam and Carolina from our Conservation Team recently travelled to one of our project sites in Equatorial Guinea 🇬🇶

Whilst there, they checked in on the beehive fences we helped install to protect farmers' crops from forest elephants 🐘 🐝

They also collected some more vital data about the wildlife in Monte Alen National Park, which is home to western lowland gorillas – the same species we have at Bristol Zoo Project 🦍

Thanks so much to Save the Elephants & Wildlife Conservation Network's
Elephant Crisis Fund, the Fraxinus Foundation and INDEFOR-AP for their support throughout! 🙌

A NEW and improved bear pool 🐻 😎

If you've been down to Bear Wood recently, you'll have noticed our team have been creating a much bigger pond for our four brown bears to splash and play in 💧

They're already making the most of it, and enjoying the fantastic natural enrichment the enlarged pool offers 💚

Make sure to visit the bears before their big snooze this winter! 😴

Thanks so much to Natracare for their kind sponsorship of Bear Wood 🌳

There are some shiny new signs at the zoo ✨

We've taken on board your feedback about making it easier to navigate around Bristol Zoo Project, and have been busy installing new signage at several points around site! ⬅️ ➡️

CHANGING PLACES IS NOW OPEN! 🙌

We are so thrilled to be able to announce that our accessible Changing Places toilet is now in use at Bristol Zoo Project.

Thank you so much for your patience during this process - we know it's been a long wait! We're so happy to be able to offer this safe and comfortable space for our visitors with limited mobility and additional needs 💚
