*⭕️ Nuclear fire in Gaza*
A literal nuclear bomb was not dropped,
but the scale of destruction, the wide spread of the bombardment,
and the unprecedented number of martyrs who have been buried — and those still trapped under the rubble —
all indicate that the entity has struck the equivalent of around 23 nuclear bombs,
at a rate of one nuclear bomb per month.

Never before has the world remained so silent in the face of such a horrifying crime committed right on its borders, as is happening now in Gaza.

View this email in your browser

Dear Peace Matters readers,
We usually only contact you when a new edition of Bristol CND's newsletter, Peace Matters, is published. This unusual extra mailing is to let you know about three important events taking place in Bristol in the next few days.
On Wed 6th August and Sat 9th August, events commemorating the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
And on Mon 11th August, a public speaker meeting "Peace or War? Challenging war hysteria" with the editor and contributors to The Alternative Defence Review which you may have heard about in the national press recently.
See below for details of all three.

Best wishes

JOIN US AS BRISTOL MARKS THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY
OF THE HIROSHIMA & NAGASAKI NUCLEAR BOMBINGS

HIROSHIMA DAY Wednesday 6th August assemble 8.00am for silent vigil & die-in at 8.15am in the Peace Grove behind the ruined church in Castle Park BS1 3XP

NAGASAKI DAY Saturday 9th August assemble 10.45am for silent vigil & die-in at 11.02 on College Green in front of the Council House BS1 5UY. Followed by a short rally condemning the UK increasing its nuclear arsenal and welcoming US nukes

“We must never forget the horrors and immense suffering caused by those first two nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki eighty years ago. Upto a third of a million people, mostly civilians, were killed; plus many more injured or affected over successive generations by the radiation. Yet despite this, the world powers continue to stockpile larger and larger nuclear arsenals. Join us for these special acts of remembrance to say NEVER AGAIN and join our campaign to fight this nuclear madness!”
