Su***de is not inevitable — it’s preventable.

Every 90 minutes, someone in the UK or Ireland dies by su***de. One in four of us has had suicidal thoughts. As medical students, the pressure can be overwhelming at times, that’s true but it should ease. So if you notice someone struggling, don’t wait.

Please ask:
How are you genuinely doing in yourself? Are you having suicidal thoughts?

It might feel uncomfortable, but asking directly can interrupt suicidal thinking — and save a life. This year’s theme, Creating Hope Through Action, reminds us that small acts of care and honest conversations can make all the difference.

Please don’t stay silent. Please ask.
You could save a life.
