Another busy day down at Rek 41....

Over the past 9 months, alongside JourneyMEN Wirral we have seen a huge increase in customers reaching out for a variety of reasons. And also lots of people just wanting to relax or meet friends in a sober environment.
With the introduction of trips out, free haircuts, pool team alongside our open door policy and no questions asked approach we are attracting those who may have struggled with contemporary services for what ever reason.
The road to recovery is a rocky road, and not one size fits all and we are proud to offer a different approach, alongside other mainstream services.
However, our relaxed approach does not mean we do not take seriously the difficulties some face.
Over the past month we have intervened in substance and alcohol relapses, suicidal ideas, mental health illness, homelessness, and poverty on a daily basis, working alongside community members to ensure we face issues together ❤️💪👍

Important Notice ....

Good Morning all,

Over the past few months we've had to look at policies regarding children on the premises and have tried many different approaches to mitigate any concerns from adult users and parents/guardians and/or a safeguarding aspect.
When children are on our premises we have a duty of care to them and MUST be considerate of situations, language, conversations and other adult customers.
First and foremost Rek41 alongside JourneyMEN Wirral are set up to support adults with issues such as addiction recovery and mental health. As you can imagine this can present certain issues and situations that are difficult at times.
However, we were also set up with family members in mind and we have always felt that encouraging the repair of relationships often fractured as a result of addiction and/or mental issues should be a priority of ours, based on the lived experience of all those we speak to.
After consulting staff, volunteers, safeguarding leads and Directors we feel we can no longer mitigate the impact upon children that certain presentations and behaviours may bring about throughout the whole of our opening hours due to the high demand for support, staff/volunteers availability, training and expense.
If we cannot mitigate the risks then we must act for the benefit of all so therefore a collective and unanimous decision has been made to restrict access to children to the following hours.

Saturday 1pm until 3pm
Sunday 1pm until 3pm.

During these hours children can spend time with loved ones in what we feel is a safe environment that can be monitored by staff and we will be creating a new in house position of family safety officer to ensure that we are safeguarding children to the highest standard possible whilst also promoting family unity.
During these hours children will have access to all of games, equipment etc that we have on offer but MUST be supervised at all times by their responsible adult..

We hope everyone understands the reasoning behind this but should you have any questions we are holding an open forum on the 14th April where the CEOs and safeguarding leads will be in attendance and will happily discuss any questions/concerns you may have.

Good Morning all,

Due to staff sickness we've not been able to finalise hours for the weekend until now 😭😭....
Everyone is on the mend though and you know we never close our door 🚪...365 days a year we are here for you as together we can get through the rough times ❤️👍💪

Today - 2pm till 9 with live footy, karaoke and open mic
Sat - 2pm - 9 with Kelly's Bingo from 7
Easter Sun - 12pm - 9 with a Egg hunt for the kids at 2.
Monday - 2pm - 9 - TBC but probably just a nice chilled bank Holiday

So if you're stuck for something to do or just want to meet new people or are struggling for any reason...pop down, the kettles always on ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

When we opened Rek41, the most important thing for us was kicking down barriers to support. That included children. Often parents struggle to access support with addiction or mental health due to childcare issues.
We are also aware that children are often caught in the middle of many of these issues and family structures can often be fractured as a result. Here at Rek 41 and JourneyMEN Wirral we pride ourselves in offering a safe space for families to rebuild and spend time together.
However, this comes with responsibility, and we must make it clear that any children on the premises MUST be accompanied by their responsible adult at all times, to enable us to continue to offer this vital service within the community.
