Men Too

Men Too The programmes has been described as “ Life changing” by many individuals who have completed the 8 week programme.

Men Too provides a safe, warm, confidential, inspirational and supportive environment for men to access a number of services that are aimed to enhance their mental and emotional wellbeing. Our Pathways 2M Empowerment programme gives individuals the opportunity to build on their confidence and self-esteem through talking, exploring feelings, listening, play therapy, art therapy, meditation and visu

alisation. Our weekly Mind Maintenance sessions are run 50 weeks out of the year offering men the opportunity to continue to enhance their wellbeing. These sessions are very service user influenced as we believe that this is an important part of helping people address issues that may be impacting on their wellbeing. A calendar of events is done every 6 weeks after consultation with the men. Some of sessions include Yoga, Reiki, a walk along New Brighton, sound healing, addressing stress, deservability and much more. The men have described the sessions as “ My wellbeing day.” “ A haven of tranquillity.” “An opportunity to press my reset button”
We also offer 1 to 1 counselling sessions which gives an individual the opportunity to identify, explore and address issues or difficulties they may be experiencing in a safe, warm, supportive and confidential environment with one of our counsellors. All our services are delivered by highly trained, dedicated and passionate staff, some of who have over 20 years experience as qualified counsellors working with diverse and complex issues.

On Tuesday at Men Too, we started the session with a check-in, followed by some fun and games as we prepared for our World Cup Draw for the ultimate Men Too Trophy!

The Men Too team kicked off the draw with the help of our guest star, who placed each of the 20 selected countries into a cup on the table. The men then gathered to watch the draw and competed against each other in a fun game of Football Pong.

Each member drew a name and threw a ball to decide which country that person would represent, including members who were unable to attend the session. If you attend the group and would like to find out which country you were assigned, the results can be found at the end of the video.

It was a fantastic day filled with laughter, teamwork, and plenty of fun.

After lunch, we focused on Wellbeing Month from last year and discussed different ways we can improve our wellbeing by staying active, connecting with others, practising self-care, and making positive lifestyle choices.

Everyone checked out feeling positive and enjoyed the session.

This month will be focused on wellbeing, with activities including journalling, nutritious meals, exercise, and self-care.

Next week, we will be joined by One Wirral for a healthy cooking class, where we'll learn new skills and create some nutritious soup together. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Mind Maintenance in June: Our Men Too groups are available to all men aged 18 and over.

All members of staff are DBS checked and fully trained in safeguarding, su***de prevention, first aid, domestic violence awareness, conflict management, food hygiene, and health and fitness. Our team are fully qualified in counselling and bring years of experience to the groups.

Our men’s groups provide a safe, ethical, and confidential space, with clear ground rules in place to keep everyone safe. We welcome everyone with free morning refreshments and breakfast.

Each session begins with a grounding or breathing exercise to help everyone relax and sit with their feelings. Group members are then invited to check in and share how they are feeling, any challenges they may be facing, or positive steps they are taking.

A trained member of staff facilitates the check-in and reminds everyone of the main ground rules before starting, including:

Phones away and on silent

Respect for others

Mindfulness in how we speak and what we say

Confidentiality

Only speaking about our own experiences

No negative self-talk

No interrupting, giving advice, or offering solutions while someone else is speaking

Allowing the facilitator to lead the session while going around the check-in

After the check-in, each session includes supportive activities such as art therapy, personal development and self-awareness work, DIY projects, days out, mindfulness, fun and games, mental health exercises, or open discussions around inspiring and meaningful topics.

We stop for lunch with free snacks, and drinks to help with the cost of living. This also provides time to sit together, socialise as a group, welcome new members, and continue to respect one another in a supportive environment.

Each session ends with a check-out, giving everyone the opportunity to reflect on how they are leaving. We also offer the chance to speak privately with a member of staff at the end of the session or to book into any of our other services, including counselling, listening support, cost of living support, or signposting to other organisations or charities if additional support is needed.

A great turnout for the Mind Maintenance group this week for our monthly long check-in.

We begin every session with a guided visualisation, followed by a brief check-in and check-out focused on how we’re feeling, with the option of one-to-one support at the end if needed.

Our longer check-in and networking sessions give members more time to reflect in depth on their month, starting with the four key questions the men explore:

How am I feeling?

Have I faced any challenges?

What good things have happened to me?

What do I need to do to continue progressing or make positive changes?

The session was filled with incredible self-awareness. The men empowered one another by openly sharing their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

This month, we were joined by Chris from Citizens Advice Wirral , who came in to tell the group more about the support available for local residents.

They provide free, confidential, and impartial advice across a range of issues including debt, benefits, housing, employment, and health. Their team also offers casework and social prescribing support to help people manage everyday challenges and access the right services.

A big thank you to Chris for taking the time to speak with the group and share such valuable information.

Today Men Too continued our therapeutic art sessions in partnership with Wirral Lifelong Learning, exploring how art therapy can support overall wellbeing.

Art therapy offers powerful mental, emotional, and physical benefits by using creativity as a tool for self-expression, stress reduction, and healing. It can help individuals process trauma, build self-esteem, enhance cognitive function, and improve communication — especially when words are hard to find. And the best part? No artistic skill is needed to take part.

A huge thank you to for having us and supporting such an important space for growth and connection.

Today, the MEN TOO team had the pleasure of spending the day with students studying Construction at The City of Liverpool College

It was a privilege to speak with the group about mental health, working together through interactive activities, fun games, and prizes throughout the session. The students were incredibly respectful, fully engaged, and shared some amazing feedback about their own experiences and understanding of mental health.

Together, we explored different mental health conditions affecting young people, discussed the barriers that can stop people from reaching out for support, and looked at both the causes and the things that can help improve wellbeing.

To finish the session, we delivered a powerful demonstration using masks, avoidance, and suppressed emotions while lifting weights in different characters and roles. The exercise highlighted the pressure many people carry every day, and the relief that can come from opening up, offloading those weights, and removing the masks we hide behind.

A huge thank you to all the students and staff for making us feel so welcome and for engaging so openly in such important conversations. 👏💙
