🔨 Drills, shelves and a whole lot of confidence!

In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, our DIY Skills course helped local learners tackle everything from hanging pictures to building flat-pack furniture—many using a power drill for the first time!

They gained an OCN Level 1 qualification, practical skills and greater confidence to tackle jobs at home. 💪

We’ve recently launched our building campaign to help Storehouse buy a building—a place where we can put down roots and continue serving our community.

Over the next two weeks, we’ll be hearing from our staff about what excites them most about moving to a new building and the possibilities it could bring.

For over 10 years now our sign has hung on North St declaring “hope from the heart of the city”. It has been a great space for us, we’ve grown and learnt so much there but the time has come to secure a permanent home for Storehouse.

We have found, and agreed purchase on, an incredible space in the heart of the city. It gives stability, increases opportunities and more than doubles the space we have to create life giving, transformative community.

We have secured half the funds needed and we have the generous offer of a match fund for the next £400k, doubling any gift given by the end of November!

In September we said a very big thank you and farewell to two much-loved members of the Storehouse team — Stephen McLean and Aimee Gillespie.

Steve has been at the heart of so much of Storehouse’s journey over the past decade. When he joined us, Storehouse had just moved into our North Street building and was a much smaller organisation, primarily focused on food, clothes and furniture. Over the years, Steve helped us grow and develop our focus on community activities, classes, personal development and partnerships with other organisations.

We are incredibly thankful for his vision, commitment and willingness to help Storehouse grow in new and creative ways. His impact can be seen throughout the organisation, and his legacy will continue to shape Storehouse for years to come.

Aimee’s Storehouse journey began in 2019 as a volunteer, where she pioneered some of our very first creative environments. In 2021, she joined the staff team as our Creative and Community Coordinator, continuing to create welcoming community spaces, including through the challenges of the Covid-19 period.

Aimee brought so much creativity, energy and enthusiasm to Storehouse. She has an incredible gift for building relationships and has encouraged and supported countless volunteers and class participants along the way. Storehouse is a different and richer place because of all that she has brought to it.

With life getting busier outside of Storehouse, particularly with two amazing daughters at home, Aimee has decided to step away from the staff team to focus on family and this next season.

Steve and Aimee, thank you.

Thank you for the time, energy, creativity, friendship and care you have poured into Storehouse. We’re so grateful for everything you have contributed and for the difference you have made to so many people.

While saying goodbye is a big change for Storehouse, we’re excited to see what the next season holds and are taking time to consider the opportunities ahead.

We wish Steve and Aimee every blessing for whatever comes next. You’ll always be part of the Storehouse story!

We’re incredibly proud to see Change the Lens shortlisted for Best New Start-Up at this year’s Social Enterprise NI Awards!

Change the Lens was born out of our work here at Storehouse and became our first social enterprise — creating a way to combine professional photography and video with training, experience and paid opportunities for people who face barriers to employment.

Less than a year since it started trading, it’s brilliant to see the team and what they’re building recognised in this way.

We’ll be cheering them on at the awards!

We’re delighted to share that Storehouse is now officially an accredited Living Wage Employer! 🙌

At Storehouse, we believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. That’s at the heart of the support we provide every day, and it’s just as important in how we value the people who make that work possible.

Last week our Storehouse community came together for a brilliant night out bowling — full of laughs, friendly competition, and plenty of memorable moments. 💛
It was amazing to see everyone connecting outside of our usual spaces and celebrating the community we’re so proud to be part of.

Every Tuesday, we come together at Olympia Leisure Centre for our Storehouse football session. It’s a space to get active, build friendships, have a laugh, and connect with people from all walks of life.
