☀️🌡️ Youth Club Tomorrow! 🌡️☀️

Despite the hot weather, Youth Club will still be going ahead tomorrow evening! 🙌🤩

Of course, we completely understand if families feel it may be too hot to travel, and everyone's wellbeing comes first.

For those joining us, we're planning some fun ways to keep cool, including:

🍓 Refreshing fruit smoothies
💦 A water gun fight (or two!)
😎 Plenty of summer fun with friends

Please remember to bring:
🧴 Sun cream
🧢 A hat
🏖️ A towel
👕 A change of clothes (just in case!)

☕🎮 Fresh Air, Friendly Faces & Fun Activities 🌳💙

Our Middle Group recently enjoyed another brilliant youth club session, making the most of everything our wonderful youth club space has to offer.

Some of our young carers chose to relax with a cuppa and a few biscuits, others got competitive on the games consoles, while some headed outside to enjoy the fresh air and take part in a spot of axe throwing (don't worry - they're not real axes! 😉).

One of the things we love most about our youth club sessions is that there is something for everyone. Whether it's relaxing with friends, trying a new activity, getting active outdoors, or simply having a chat, young carers can spend time doing what makes them happy in a supportive and welcoming environment.

For many young carers, these sessions provide an important opportunity to take a break from their caring responsibilities, connect with others who understand their experiences, and simply enjoy being young people.

🏕️ OPERATION ZERO - Survival Adventure Residential 🌲🔥

Calling all Middle and Older Group young carers (school years 7 to college)!

We're excited to announce a brand-new overnight residential experience taking place on Saturday 1st – Sunday 2nd August 2026 at the Gordon Brown Centre.

🗓️ Saturday 1st August – Sunday 2nd August
📍 Gordon Brown Centre
🌙 1 Night Residential

Working in teams, young carers will take part in an exciting survival-themed adventure that includes:

🔍 Scavenging for resources
🏕️ Building shelters and setting up camp
🪵 Gathering firewood
🔥 Cooking an evening meal
🌙 Camping overnight
🍳 Preparing breakfast
🎯 Laser tag mission
🚁 Team challenges and evacuation activities

This promises to be a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, develop teamwork skills, make new friends and enjoy a memorable break from caring responsibilities.

Thank You for Supporting Our Young Carers 💛

A huge thank you to Elvetham Masonic Lodge for their generous donation of £1,000 to Basingstoke & District Young Carers.

We were delighted to welcome Michael Whittaker, Worshipful Master of
Elvetham Masonic Lodge, who recently presented the cheque to our Youth Team Leader, Colette Bibby.

This support will help us continue providing vital respite opportunities, activities and experiences for local young carers, including helping to fund transport so that young people can access our weekly clubs, trips and events throughout the year.

As we head into a busy summer programme packed with activities, adventures and opportunities for young carers to relax, have fun and spend time with others who understand their experiences, donations such as this make a real difference.

💚 Mental Health & Wellbeing Workshop 💛

Our Younger Group recently took part in a Mental Health & Wellbeing Workshop, providing an opportunity to learn more about the importance of looking after their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

As young carers, many of the children and young people we support balance responsibilities at home alongside school, friendships, and everyday life. Sessions like these help raise awareness of wellbeing, encourage positive conversations, and remind young carers that their own mental health is important too.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Thriveology for delivering this workshop and sharing their knowledge and expertise with our young carers.

Support like this helps us continue to provide opportunities that not only offer respite and fun but also help young carers develop valuable life skills and build confidence for the future.

🌿 New Forest Wildlife Park Trip - Younger Group 🦌🐺

We're delighted to announce a summer trip for our Younger Group young carers (school years 4–6) to the wonderful New Forest Wildlife Park on Sunday 19th July 2026!

📍 Destination: New Forest Wildlife Park

This promises to be a fantastic day out, giving our young carers the opportunity to explore the park, discover some amazing wildlife, spend time with friends and enjoy a well-deserved break from their caring responsibilities.

🌳 A Wonderful Day at The Vyne! 💚

Recently, our young carers enjoyed a fantastic day out at The Vyne, one of our favourite annual trips and a highlight of the May half-term calendar.

We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather throughout the day, and it was wonderful to see such a great mix of young carers from across all of our age groups coming together to enjoy the outdoors, make new friends, and simply have fun.

The much-loved Capture the Bear game made a welcome return, alongside a picnic, outdoor activities, plenty of laughter, and lots of opportunities for young carers to relax and enjoy a well-deserved break from their caring responsibilities.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special.

The Vyne - National Trust for providing Basingstoke & District Young Carers with a Community Pass, allowing us to bring young carers to visit free of charge throughout the year.
