Right now, millions of families are coming together to watch the World Cup, but every day in the UK 13 babies die shortly before, during or soon after birth. That’s 13 families every day experiencing the heartbreak of never being able to bring their baby home to enjoy a family moment together like this.

And that’s before we think about the thousands of families experiencing other types of pregnancy and baby loss and TFMR (Termination for Medical Reasons) for which there is no comprehensive publicly available data across the UK.

But where do they turn to for support?

We are the UK’s leading pregnancy and baby loss charity. We are working to save babies’ lives and ensure that every parent and every family receive the care and support they need when the worst does happen.

On Saturday was the first southern community meet up for SANDS volunteers, and we couldn’t miss it 🤩

It’s always a pleasure to meet other volunteers in different areas, to build relationships and connections with other inspiring people. To learn and build on ideas to help better support families in our own areas 🤝

SANDS have the most incredible volunteers within its community and something I am so proud to be part of 💜🧡

We are delighted to share that SUFC Basingstoke own Dan Chandler was nominated and winner of the SANDS volunteer- Bel Mooney Award for raising awareness! 🏆

Absolutely brilliant achievement and thoroughly deserved after his work to set up local stands in Basingstoke and most importantly, bring SANDS & SANDS United to Carfest 2025 - and maybe 2026 👀

The winners were announced last night at our Volunteers' Week celebrations, which seen Sands volunteers from communities all across the UK come together to recognise their hard work.
