Volunteers' Week is an annual UK-wide campaign dedicated to recognising and celebrating the contributions of volunteers across communities - volunteersweek.org

This Year, the week-long event runs from 1st to 7th June, providing a platform for organisations, charities, and community groups to thank volunteers, share their stories, and highlight the impact of voluntary work

During the week, activities can include thank-you events, award ceremonies, workshops, and social gatherings, all aimed at appreciating volunteers and inspiring more people to get involved with your organisation.

The campaign has been running since 1984 and continues to foster connections between national organisations and grassroots groups, celebrating the spirit of volunteering that enriches communities each year

Volunteers' Week also serves as an opportunity for organisations to recruit new volunteers, raise awareness about their needs, and showcase the positive difference volunteers make in society

Whether participating online, in local events, or through community projects, this week encourages everyone to acknowledge and support the invaluable contributions of volunteers.

For more information on events, ways to get involved, and updates, you can visit the official website - https://volunteersweek.org/

A man in a blue top carrying a beige shopping bag with shopping sticking out ?
It might seem unlikely, but you could use
physical activity to do good for the environment! Active travel is a great way to get from A to B while reducing emissions in the local area and benefitting you.

Whether that's walking to work or running to the shops or cycling to see friends, you can build movement into everyday life without feeling like your losing time while supporting a healthier planet too.

With the arrival of our first heatwave, we can safely say summer is not far away. With it's brighter days and longer evenings, it's a great season to reconnect to the world around us. Plus, being active outdoors supports our mental wellbeing and reduces feelings of anxiety and stress.

For you, that could mean:
• A gentle walk after dinner spotting wildlife
• Playing games in the park with family or friends
• Getting involved in community gardening projects
• Maybe visit an outdoor community pool or beach
Just remember to drink lots of water, stay in the shade and don’t push yourself too hard!
